Apparently he hasn't been that good recently and after watching the Spurs v Newcastle match it wasn't lost on me that the commentator mentioned that the arrival of Saha had a positive effect on Adebayor and that match was the best he'd played in ages.
Ade has a lot to prove. He thought he was the dogs bollocks at Arsenal after one proloific season then he started with his antics. Along came City and paid a fee in excess of what his true value was and Arsenal took the £25m very willingly.
Don't forget that Ade only came to us because Arsenal didn't want him and not because he wanted to come. Even after he'd reluctantly agreed to come to us, his agents still offered him to ManUre & Chelski who both turned him down.
In Adebayors mind he saw ManUre and Chelski as being more in keeping with his self elevated status and City as a step down in his career.
He comes to City, great start because he had something to prove to Arsenal, but after he'd proved his point, he was never the same again notwithstanding the ACN tragedy. After bust ups with Hughes, other team mates & Mancini, he was on the move again, but this time to a team that he believed was more befitting of his status.
Ronaldo let Ade know during a pre-season inteview that after 5 months at Real, that he wasn't needed so he now had to face the prospect of coming back to us and just as this happens Twitcher pitches up and Ade's on the move again.
My point is that if Spuds doesn't work out for Adebayor, then I could only see clubs at a Europa League at best level being interested. His talent has never been in question, but his attitude always has. A point has to come whereby a club is forced to decide whether a constantly blowing hot & cold Adebayor is worth the bother or not. It hasn't happened at Spuds as yet but if Adebayor was to secure a permanent move, I wouldn't be so sure that his self distructing attitude wouldn't surface again.
On a final note why do people keep going on about Twitcher being a great man manager for getting the best out of players and being a manager that players want to play for. I think Palacios, Hutton, Defoe, Pavlyuchenko, Jenas, Corluka, Gomes, Bentley etc would beg to differ. To make an omlette you have to break eggs and no manager can afford to allow sentiment toward a player to stand in the way of success and that goes for Twitcher too.
