Built by 26,000 workers and the cost is over 36 billion dollars it looks brilliant check it out at Yas Marina Circuit, it's unbelievable -

Mr. Bernie Ecclestone, President of Formula One, has described the Yas Marina Circuit as “one of the most exciting tracks I have ever seen,” high praise for the venue of the inaugural F1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to be held on November 1, 2009. From the twisting Singapore-style street sections to the Monaco-style marina, the Yas Marina Circuit will serve up an array of driving challenges for the world’s best drivers.

Soak in the action of the Grand Prix from the viewer-friendly grandstands or go for the more luxurious route of the Marina Hotel and other VIP hospitality dotted around the track. Another option for those with a nautical frame of mind, is to view the Grand Prix from your vessel moored at the iconic Yas Marina.

When the 2009 F1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is over, this will not spell the end for motoring enthusiasts. Yas Island offers many other possibilities including a 1km long drag strip and an adrenaline-fuelled go karting complex for those seeking a personalised racing experience.

Most definately we should bluemoon 115

Now they want the best football team in the world and have only spent 500million.

Yet they spend 36 billion dollars on a race track which we will be used mainly 1 weekend every year.........

They are unbelievable..........

Some people are just so ungrateful

Maybe that's why ADUG have bought the old Clayton Analine site , they are going to build a Formula 1 track there.
Season ticket holders will be given free entry to the Grandstand in the inaugural Manchester Grand Prix.
(Or you can view the circuit from your narrow boat on the Ashton Canal).
Imagine that, watch City beat the Rags 4-0 ,walk across Alan Turing Way,and then watch Jensen and Lewis outbrake all those Johnny Foreigners in their little racing cars.

No way it's that expensive. This is from http://www.yasmarinacircuit.com:

"We are not in a position to discuss finances at this stage of the project but it’s fair to say that the cost of the development of Yas Marina Circuit is in line with other major sporting venues such as Wembley Stadium and the new Yankee Stadium in New York. There are however a couple of factors that work in our favour, Yas Marina Circuit is part of a larger project, Yas Island and as such economies of scale play a part in keeping the costs down."

So more like a billion, couple tops! (Wembley around £800m )

The fuckwits probably added all the buildings on the island and the man-made-island to that cost.. then I quess it could come close.

bluefinn the quote of 36 billion dollars is the estimate for the development of Yas Island, track, hotels etc and comes from this months (November ) edition of top gear...........

only quoting what they say fella.........

bluemoon baldboy............they are unbelievably generous people.................

and who knows what they will spend on us in total.................................

Sorry I did use the wrong facepalm and will edit to a nicer one but still deserved it!!

Bluemoonbladboy yes technically ADUG are separate from the AD Investment Authority..........

Yas Marina is developed by AD Motorsports Management a joint venture between the Government of AD and ALDAR properties.

ALDAR since forming in 2005 have spent 72 billion dollars developing the infrastructure of AD.

However the Chairman of ADMM is non other than Khaldoon.....................yes he of Manchester City

yes Adam the press got all excited as they thought Mr Mittal the steel magnate had the most money in football.........

however nobody knows the true worth of HRH Sheikh Mansour.............

All we do know is that the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority has 700 billion in their fund............

Have to agree about ADUG generosity.

Price of tickets has been generally very fair and the season tickets very much so.

What reminded me though was the streaming of the England game (up to £11.99 apparently) and the fact that the Barca game was streamed free. Would other clubs have put that on for free ? I think not.

My view is we are incredibly fortunate to have their support, and I believe they are in for a good while.

Not a suprise really.

ADUG make things happen not just dreams.

We will be the most powerfull team in the football world within 5 yrs.

Enjoy the ride!

Just watching the practice sessions on the Red Button and admiring the circuit and also noticed the "Manchester City Blue" of the run-off areas. Only place in the world that uses those colours there, so looks "City Blue" has has become the Abu Dhabi/ADUG corporate colour. Great but subtle advertising for us, I wonder if there'll be much mention of us this weekend? Perhaps a grid interview with Khaldoon wishing us luck on Sunday?

How fantastic to be associated with these guys...

yes keep an eye out for Khaldoon as he has played a major part in this project and he has done a fantastic job for the grand Prix, but then again look at what he's done for us so far unbelievable.............

City are amongst illustrious company

For those who dont realise how well positioned we are as a club have a read of this.

There are some rather big names in there.

ABU DHABI FACELIFT: The arrival of Formula One in Abu Dhabi is part of an ambitious effort to transform the emirate from an oil-rich enclave of little international profile into a financial, cultural and entertainment center.

The man charged with making it happen is Khaldoon al Mubarak, managing director of Mubadala _ Abu Dhabi's government-run business development company.

The Formula One race is being staged on Yas Island, a man-made island that will also host giant theme parks, including one run by Ferrari, and other entertainment hubs. Other islands off the coast will host more refined activities, with the Louvre and Guggenheim museums setting up operations, along with the Paris-Sorbonne university.

But the jewel in the crown is Formula One, which attracts massive global television audiences and will provide Abu Dhabi with its craved name recognition.

That rationale also prompted the investment in English Premier League football club Manchester City, where al Mubarak is chairman.

"We wanted to bring the best event that it out there to Abu Dhabi and that is what we got," al Mubarak said. "It has everything. It is more than a sport, it is a grand occasion.

"Of course we want to show what we can do to the rest of the world but this is for the people of Abu Dhabi."

Organizers said tickets for Sunday's race had sold out at a circuit that had already brought admiration from teams. It delivers unprecedented levels of luxury and features, including a section of track that passes beneath a hotel lobby, run-off areas under grandstands and a functioning marina abutting the paddock.

But if the teams think it looks good for this year's inaugural event, they can expect further improvements for the 2010 race.

"We will progress with the facilities at the track and we need to keep getting more people here involved," al Mubarak said.

Re: City are amongst illustrious company

The first sentance gives a hint as to why he's bought City, too.

Not " as a toy" or " to make profit", as most pundits seem to think.
