Adverts on you tube and Facebook

Youtube has become progressively worse. I'm a teacher, and it's a nightmare, because sometimes I have to watch a few videos to find one that's suitable for whatever I'm teaching. So I have to sit through 20 seconds of adverts only to find out within 5 seconds that the video isn't what I'm looking for, before having to sit through another 20 seconds to watch the next one. Luckily my home laptop hasn't seen an advert for about 10 years.

The other one is getting rid of the public thumbs down, which was basically done to protect huge companies from having their movie trailers downvoted. It's a nightmare, because it was always the quickest way to find incorrectly labelled videos. The other day I missed the England game, so I wanted to watch the highlights. Youtube was full of games that were labelled England 6-1 China uploaded in the last hour, but when you clicked on them, it was just some random game from another competition. A few years ago, the downvotes would instantly tell you. Now you're halfway through the intro before you notice. Or even worse if it's a 'How to fix...' video.
 
I use YouTube through the Brave browser. No ads whatsoever. I save YouTube via Brave as an app on my phone.

If I want to watch YouTube on TV then screen share the Brave YouTube version to the TV and have an ad free experience there too.

And you can play YouTube with your screen off on your phone through Brave too.
 
Pihole and adblock plus means I don't see any ads on the browser. I've stopped using the YouTube app completely.

Just a note. Vanced is not available on iPhone and is not supported by Google play. The APK is good to download. One thing I've heard is that it won't be usable in the near future which is a shame as it is superb. I tried using the normal Yt app and its horrendous how much your viewing I interrupted

Never looked at or seen Facebook.
Have no interest in doing so either.
And youtube I've watched the odd video but twats who film themselves watching a game and then get called a fucking celebrity put me off
 
Just use AdBlock or an ad free browser like Brave. I haven't watched a YouTube ad in years. Takes less than a minute to install AdBlock and doesn't cost a thing.
 
They generate $1.65b every 3 weeks in ads - fuck that.

pihole and uBlock origin = No ads.
Never use the YouTube app you get on your phone/tablet.
 
50 second adverts now, it’s becoming a joke, im looking at getting an indusn account dirt cheap and then no ads, it’s a bit of fucking about but should be worth it.
