Advice for cigarette cravings

Im on my 5th day without a fag, the only thing is i can't drink either coz i know it'll make me crumble within 10 minutes. i know there's a few on here thats give up, how long will this shit last, advice please i'm climbing the fucking walls!! aaarrrhhh!
 
Im in the process of quitting aswell mate, on my 8th day now! Only thing I can do to get the craving out of my head is by trying to keep myself busy! Someone told me to pinch myself really hard everytime I fancy a smoke, haven't tried that like.

Only thing I do suggest, is DO NOT play fifa 10 online whilst trying to quit smoking.

The cravings last a few months mate,, but do get easier.. Iv give up 5 times and always gone back...New baby born next week so have to give up again, but not looking forward to it.
 
giving up is 100% mind over matter for me...

you've done 5 days, which is a great achievement, infact you've almost cracked it... week 1 is the hardest, then its easy from then onwards... you just need to remind yourself that having a smoke now would be throwing all the hard work down the pan, good luck....
 
cheers fellas. fuck knows what i'm gonna do on saturday, i'll have to try and stay out of the boozers, how i dont know but i know if i have a pint i'll be back on the fags even if i have to dip someones pockets to get one haha.
 
I'm 5 weeks in and haven't cracked, but am taking "champix", the anti-smoking drug which makes it miles easier.

NRT will take the cravings away. I'd go for the little microtabs which you put in the corner of your mouth, as they are not mint flavoured. Or a patch.

the problem with chewing gum/microtabs etc is that they wear off after an hour or so and then you will probably decide you'd rather have a fag, because your pissed brain will give you a rational reason. Keep putting them in.

it will take longer to give up in the long run, though.
 
I'm on my third week without a fag. I was a 20 cigs a day smoker so it wasnt & still isnt easy i am coping by eating Fox's classics and Club biscuits, i always found that if i lay on my back watching tv or reading book i never, ever wanted a cig???

Its hard mate, the first 2 weeks i had the mrs giving me dirty looks because she was woken to sound of me coughing all sorts of crap up but that has now started to go. Just keep at it & avoid the drink for a few weeks while you in the process of stopping otherwise you will just give in, in the end i have given up the booze aswell.

If you do end up drinking just stay in the pub where you can't smoke - don't go outside with the smokers and whatever you do resist the urge to have one - you'll probably drink more like but it'll be worth it if you can prove to yourself that you can drink without lighting up.

It is an addiction and you've gotta realise that if you have one you'll be back to normal within no time - it's not easy though - you need will power.
