Advice for first Etihad match

Such a brilliant post spoiled by these words.. " Circus tavern or Grey horse". Or otherwise known as Rag Central.
The Grey Horse used to be very Blue and the Circus was mixed. Certainly in the Maine Road days. Not been in them for years though. I never went back to the Circus after the landlord removed all the City pictures so he could put up more United ones.

Might have already been mentioned but when do City put the first batch of tickets on sale for home games. Thanks
I keep meaning to ask this. It says "mid July" on that press release so should be imminent. Probably the day I'm flying out on holiday knowing my luck.

I've only ever been in since it's been wall to wall shite. I walked straight back out!

There was a dedicated City section at back of the Circus last time I went in, which shows how quick things change.

Tommy Ducks still going, right ?

Tommy Ducks long gone as is the City section at the Circus. The heyday of the Circus was when George the Greek (RIP) had it.

She'll regret it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. But soon, and for the rest of her life.

I know, I well remember the outrage at Tommy Ducks, must be 35 years ago ?

Nearly as bad as shutting the Jolly Anglers for no apparent benefit.

Hard keeping up with Mancunian pubs.

You could write a book about old Mancunian pubs that are now sadly long gone.

My local in Longsight when growing up was a Grade 2 listed building with an amazing history.

It ended up being 'mysteriously' burnt down in the middle of the night.
All too common. There was pub I used to frequent in Glasgow after work. The owners applied for permission to demolish and redevelop the site. This was turned down as it was a listed building. One evening it was burned down and had to be demolished.

Rather like the infamous demolition of the 'crooked house' in South Staffordshire.

If you want to blend in with the City fans then you'll need to curb your natural Canadian enthusiasm. Don't look too impressed by anything you see unless Haaland or Foden do something magical but even then there are limits. You can celebrate for a few seconds but then you should turn to your neighbour at the game and say "he was lucky there. He'd be a good player if he had any pace. Not had a fast winger since Peter Beagrie". Within the first five minutes you should also shout loudly "come on Pep sort it out" and if someone makes a mistake you should tell them to "wake up".

Also ignore the guys pretending to be Usain Bolt on here. The walk to the ground from town is about 40 minutes but if you're going to get there early the tram is easy and convenient. For the extra bonus British experience if you want to get it after the game you'll also experience a "queue". For authentic Canadian Poutain check out Cow Town Grill in Sale or vomit on your own chips.

Like many I would recommend coming up a day or two before the game. Despite the local rivalry Liverpool is a nice city to visit for the day. As is York and Chester as mentioned.

I went in there a couple of years ago, rag shite everywhere, downed my pint and fucked off, not giving those twats another penny. Hope they go bust and it gets turned into a Tesco.

The Grey Horse is blue on March day. Got pics up from both teams (equal split) and is frequented by plenty of Blues, myself frequently included, after the match. Janam’s next door is good for a kebab too ;-)

I won’t set foot next door mind; they’ll make a fortune if Old Toilet is rebuilt to the spec outlined - The CIRCUS Tavern indeed.

Pleased to see that. I went in the Grey Horse for years after matches at Maine Road and it was always full of City fans. In those days the Circus was an amicable mix of Red and Blue. Both were great pubs at the time. We always ended up in Chinatown.
