Some tosser decided to overtake a bus and smashed into my wing mirror this morning.

Unit is still attached to the car but the glass is broken and the entire arse of the unit has gone with the wires exposed.

If I take it to Vauxhall they will tickle my balls on price. Anyone been in similar unfortunate circumstances can advise a way forward? Can these things be changed yourself if I get one of the Tinterweb?

It happended to me in a car park, Vauxhall wantd £230.00. Fortunately I know someone who had a garage. He bought the part trade fitted it and painted all for £90.00. Avoid the main dealer at all cost. Shop around.

Had our wing mirror stolen in broad daylight at the back of Fairfield street; they even left the backing on the roof of the car for us. Would have been £350 from Volvo.

I would search yell.com for local vauxhall breakers, chances are you'll get a complete wing mirror in the same colour as your car for a fraction of the cost from the main dealer. Really easy to fit, pick yourself up a Haynes Manual from halfords and that will show exactly how to fit it, plus it will come in handy for any other little jobs that might need doing in the future.
