It has, and always will be, a fuedal state. The tribes fight for whoever pays the most and they are very, very good it. War is a way of life in Afghanistan and it has been for centuries.

The Russians found out not long ago, like all invading armies before them, and now NATO are finding it out too - there is just no way to win a war in Afghanistan.

Such a tragic waste of life. It's time all the troops were pulled out.

It will be in the hands of the Taliban again in a few years as much as I hate to say it. I don't like thinking nor saying it has been a complete waste of time because a lot of lives have been lost, there have been some construction projects etc that have taken place that will hopefully do the Afghans some good.

I just cannot see the Afghan Army nor Police being strong enough (in some cases there have been incidents of shooting coalition troops as I think I have mentioned here before).

Incidents like pissing on Taliban troops and the current protests about the way the Koran was mishandled set the process back years because you have to feel that they will only put public opinion against the Coalition.
