if, and apologies if I’m assuming wrongly, you or your family have been in Afghanistan (or Telic), then you’d hopefully had the full induction and manual about the country and it’s history?

It looks like a monumental fuck up this.

At the very least before pulling out of there, every person who opposed the Taliban or was at risk from the Taliban should have been given the opportunity to flee and been given asylum.

Those desperate scenes at the airports are awful, people that know if they stay they face 'punishments' that they wont want to live through or even death itself.

You have to fear for the people that opposed the Taliban and the women and girls that have been abandoned there.

You have to fear for the last troops that are left there to help people flee as well, been left in an impossible position where they are hugely at risk.

I disagree… the Afghans have had £54 billion of western money to equip and train their armed forces, 300,000 troops, 10,000 special forces, and a capable Air Force defeated in 24 hours!!!!!

The military equipment they’ve left behind (if not destroyed) will be used by the Taliban against anybody who decides to stand against them..

They were trained to defend their own people but decided to down tools and fuck off..

Soviets invaded in 1979, installing a puppet govt.

US started a covert war supplying anyone that resisted the soviets, including Osama bin laden prior to Al-quaida , as well as the fore-runners of the Taliban, plus the ‘northern alliance’ tribal groups and any other groups willing to weaken the invader.

All as per the manual…

Is there potential for limited Nuclear exchanges when it eventually goes off between Iran/US/Israel; ?

Struggling to think of any other reasons. Other than maybe the Chinese has dirt on the Bidens. Particularly Hunter.

It’s a bit like the French collapse in WWII.
Many of the same reasons apply.
French had superiority in numbers, had spent a fortune on defence, had an Allie (uk) for support.
The leadership was historic, corrupt, nepotistic and fatalistic.
The army lived on outdated fighting doctrine, was corrupt, poorly lead, infiltrated by sympathisers and agitators. The equipment ranged from crap to very good, but was badly used.
The aggressor (Germany) had better tactics, was determined and had belief/ideals that aligned with how they acted.
