Nicky Winmar,Adam Goodes,I'm sure they would take your side in the racism debate surrounding AFL.
Winmar was around 20 years ago?
So what ,calling someone a n#gger loses impact after two decades, does it?.
There were reports of Hawthorn supporters racially abusing Goodes at the grand final,in the Age.

I wouldn't use something that happened 20 years ago to generalise the current behaviour of a set of supporters.

There were reports of Liverpool supporters racially abusing an Oldham player a few years ago, are all football supporters racist?

Just seen those reports about Goodes too. He got booed in the GF, probably nothing to do with the fact that the majority of opposition supporters think he's a diver, a cheat and a sniper who is protected by the AFL, the umpires and the tribunal because of the importance of the Sydney market to the AFL.

The basketball league in Australia once had a written and publicised objective that a Sydney team would win a championship in the next x years (can't remember how many). And that was the league wanting a Sydney side to win.

I think most sports in Australia have a definite agenda towards the Sydney sides. Lots of money to be made by conquering that market.

When I was over in OZ I spent the first year in Sydney and Queensland and so avoided any AFL. Was largely rugby league up in queensland. When I moved to Perth though it was a 50/50 split of Dockers and Eagles fans at work and I got involved just to join in and started watching more. Still prefer league but no western australia side to watch so the AFL beats union for me. The atmosphere is awesome and that kind of helps you get into it and it isn't a bad sport even though it's a bit nuts for first time watchers.

As a south australian and crows fan, Its been a pretty emotional day over here. Theres been so much coverage on radio and tv. Our game this weekend has been called off, and I wouldn't be surprised if next weeks which is our local derby gets called off to.
