Age.

There are several players coasting at the moment. Bony, Yaya, Fernando and some that are unwilling to accept responsibility in certain situations i.e. Navas, Clichy and Sagna.

Yaya I'll excuse due to his age and status and the fact that Pellers doesn't account for this in his formations.

I think in sport, unlike normal work, the peak age of performance is somewhere between 25-32 ish there are many player exceptions to this of course.

The ability to work hard and be athletic and skilfull in the EPL is increasingly all important. This is the challenge Pep has when he arrives.

For most of my thirties I was a lazy **** and an all round dilettante, whereas in my forties I now work insanely hard most of the time and absolutely love it.

If you find something you love, that motivates and stimulates you, then your age is nugatory - as long as you've got your health, of course.

This is the hardest thing I've done today - look up the meaning of this word. It's nice looking up new words. It didn't take long with the Dictionary app, but I could have taken all day over it!

I always knew you would make a great Pimp.

Something that's been on mind for a while this as the groundhog matchdays keep happening week after week.

Do you try as hard in your work as you get older? In the past I've worked for the old duffer who feels like he has 'put his work in' and is seeing out the last few years of his working life doing as little as possible. It's hard to give a fuck when they don't.

MP had this incredible reputation coming into the club as this tactical mastermind who could 'engineer' results with his detailed pre match preparation and in game decisions. We have seen very little of this over the last few years and despite the soundbites it just feels like the old fella is mailing it in at this point. If you have eyes, it's obvious that theres no way we are preparing for our opponents as we should and (generally) the games in which we do well are ones where our opponents preparation and attitude is worse than ours.

So, this brings me back to my original question....is the drive to put in the time and effort behind the scenes what it once was as you crack on?

I honestly believe Pep will be a shot in the arm for this squad and it will take far less time for them to get on his page than some think. We are crying out for a leader and I for one cannot wait til we get one.

I don't believe it is age related at all. These guys could have retired multi millionaires years ago, so something is keeping them going

The Anthony Eden of The Etihad........doesn't believe what's happening before his very eyes !!

Massive wasted opportunities.....we've let the rags of the hook AGAIN,when they're at their lowest ebb for decades.

Should've had back to back Prems & created an ongoing dynasty.

Shameful !!

Was wondering more about whether Pellegrini is putting the work in anymore. It's hard to believe with the ridiculous tactics and team selections that he spends any time at all watching film and studying the opposition.
