With Wolves it seems an Agent is part of their ownership structure and is presumably able to get his players to Wolves at bargain prices. This gives them exposure at Wolves, then presumably share in their future value to both Wolves and their former Club together with himself of course.

Seemingly the many new incomers do not make Wolves vulnerable to FFPR so it will be interesting to see how it develops.

This is just a smart business model. Why shouldn't an agent try to get the best possible deal for his players. Can't see anything wrong with this. If the club does well then everyone wins. It's all transparent and above board unlike other clubs where secret bungs are the norm. There have been lots of bitter comments from rivals like Villa who are run in a totally incompetent way. Well done to Wolves. No doubt the crooked dinosaurs at the the FA and Uefa will do their best to stop it.

It is a similar model to Porto in a way. A club set up to profit from player transfers. It is probably what Mike Ashley thought he could do with Newcastle. It only works if you can do a better a job than anyone else in the transfer market and balance keeping fans coming though the doors and selling your best players at the same time. It is no guarantee of success.

There is a big potential issue with conflicts of interest. A player should have an independent agent who acts in their interests. This however doesn't happen at the best of times so I assume people are just resigned to letting it happen.

Can anyone see any advantage to City if we used any agent to do a similar job for the type of player we need ?
I know our scouting system gets young players for Academy but an agent talking to other agents as.no doubt the Wolves man does may or may not be an advantage to us.

Perhaps we do this already ?
Perhaps our needs are for existing stars so agents do not need to wait ?

Do you know who Pere Guardiola is?

The role of agents is massively overplayed. If a player is good enough they will rise to the top. If any club buys a player because of the influence of an agent over their own thinking then they deserve what they get.

Didn't we almost have a similar situation when Sven was in charge? Can't remember the agents name but he seemed very influential in bringing players in. Then wasn't there almost a similar thing with Kia Jarobthingy
