Sergio's reps have previous, hasn't someone from his camp leaked team sheets in the past and was reprimanded from the club?

Regardless Sergio has to look after himself, he has served the club magnificently and if we are not prepared to make a contract offer to him, he is perfectly entitled to look for a new employer.

Clearly a briefing has gone out to the usual trusted city journos tonight from aguero’s camp stating he would want to join another prem team if we let him go. Not sure this is gonna sit well with pep and the board I think Fernandino has it right when he said now is not the time to talk about his contract situation wants to concentrate on winning games etc. Whereas aguero has tried to put pressure on us.

Maybe so re his camp briefing some journalists, but wouldn't say 'clearly'. The guys make shit up whenever they feel like it, this could be that following on from reported comments on not passing to him, or could be a subtle leak from his side to put pressure.

Either way it would seem he wants to stay. And that is the somewhat slightly sad thing. If the club were making him offers and he simply wanted something else or more elsewhere, all for him getting what he wants. Him wanting to be here though, and the club not offering it, that is a touch harder to swallow. But, i still support it, theth have not just next season but the future to worry about. And i personally have thought it is his time, even before this season's absence.

The club have said that it's up to Sergio when he leaves so my guess is that this is just his camp trying to see what interest is out there so he can assess his options. He's probably feeling that if he does stay his minutes on the pitch might be quite limited and his contract could be drastically lowered especially if we did bring in someone new in the summer.

I think many read that the wrong way. If he turned around and said i want 5 more years, doubt the club would say, ok, up to you when you leave.

They basically mean they won't selll them for profit going into their final year, and if they decide to see their contract out they'll honour that, like komps, silva etc. Not, they do what they want.

Part of me would rather see him at Chelsea than at Barcelona (not that i think there is even a bawhair of credibility to that punt at a rumour) because a)he'd add to his PL record, and b)we'd still get to see more of him than in la liga.

I want to ‘like’ your post, but just can’t. The thought of him pulling on another Prem team’s shirt makes me want to vomit. Surely he wouldn’t do that.

My spider senses are telling me that this is the current situation:

Aguero wants to play on at City. City are going balls deep for Haaland, so 3 strikers is too many (especially considering how well we play without a "striker")
Jesus earns his chances because he's young and enthusiastic, and does his job and doesn't complain.
Sergio is getting into his last few seasons, he is a total legend and the club recognise this and want him to stay, but play a lesser role as the transition begins to Haaland.
The role Sergio plays, and his acceptance of that, is the crucial point here. Does he feel he has another 3 years to play at the top level? Is the future of Messi tied to the future of Sergio?
Maybe he goes to Barcelona for a couple of seasons playing with Messi. Maybe Messi comes to City and plays a couple of seasons with Aguero. It's hard to know the dynamic of their desire to play in the same team. It may all be smoke and mirrors.

Our main 'ins' constitute replacements for Aguero and Ferna. I'm sure the club will have reached advanced stages for these replacements (if my theory is correct) by the end of this season.
