Well we're doomed then.....the African nations is on again next January is it not?

We'll probably have someone like Javi Martinez by then who can play the role.

Aguero is our only fully functioning top class forward at the moment. Tevez is looking good but we'll be lucky to see a 100% Tevez before the end of the season and his presumable exit from the club.

Even a Tevez who is not fully fit at the moment is a damn sight better than Dzeko at his best.

And just exactly what has it cost us?
progress in the fa cup
maybe 6 points in january
also stabilty across the back line.

Ditto, and not forgetting the Carling Cup.

And here was me thinking poor team selection and the wrong tactics, cost us dear. We started with the wrong eleven against Stoke and again failed to learn from the Chelsea game. I wonder if Mancini will start with Panti against Ushited, like he did in the FA Cup, or has he learnt from that fucking clueless one (of many). It is the mentality of the team that is now the problem, not the quality of the players.

I don't think you can say starting with Pantillimon in goal against that lot was entirely to cost us progress in the cup.

I would have liked to have seen Milner start on Saturday, and my thoughts were that I wanted him to start against Chelsea.

I think we have looked a bit laboured/careless at times recently and some of the individual performances, and our passing game, has not been up to standard.

Still... if we go into the Derby needing to win to go top... I would have taken that at the start of the season!!

Keep the faith... In Mancini we trust!!

Just somebody explain to me why you would have started with Panti in the FA Cup against United? I'm not saying on it's own it cost us progressing, but it is a factor in team selection that just does not make any sense. It is one example of mindless rotation, which has cost us dear.

The problem is the players we are/were missing are always part of our spine or at the very least 100% starter every week. Yaya, VK, Silva, Lescott and now Aguero. Throw in Hart and imo that is our spine. So yes, again imo is the reason were out of every cup and the rags have caught us up.

Where does the six points come from?

City lost to Sunderland (with Yaya and Kompany playing) and Everton in January. All other league matches were won.

So are you saying if Vidic wasn't missing for the majority of the season that United would be way ahead?

That's what having a squad is all about. Even your 2nd string defense (Zab/Toure/Savic/Kolorov) is better than United's 2nd string defense (Rafael/Jones/?????/Fabio) and they've had more than their fair share of injuries across the park this season.

Points taken:
but no, its not just at the back, i couldn't care less how the rags cope tbh i care about what were doing. I pointed out the key injuries to our squad that have affected us in major parts of the season. God knows how you do it, it cant all be down to good management, just the luckiest team in the history of the game imo. I think without the injuries weve had and very harsh suspensions at times we'd be confortable at the top now and still in the FA cup.
