Ahmad Benali ex City

Why where is he playing now?! Don't forget also some of our reserve coaching staff have now gone or sacked

Never worked this hard in a long time! But suppose this is what happens when you've had poor coaching for 2 years!

Oh dear.

Well, if rumours are true and we've just got rid of Andy Welsh, it's not only this player who might agree that training and development were substandard over the past few years.

Brescia.

So it'll be there first team

Yep. They have just got relegated from Serie A so the contrast between League1 and Reserve team football and his current teams methods will be a huge step up.

Does tie in with the general quality since Welsh took over though.

Benali may have been posturing on twitter in the past, but he give it the big one about City and laid into rags when possible. I think there is some disappointment on his part.

He's only saying what many feel, he isn't the first ex-EDS lad on Twitter to say that. Andy Welsh was a laughing stock, Benali was technically gifted and very promising at academy level, then our horrible reserve setup led by Welsh led to his stagnation, one of many extremely talented players from our academy who have fallen victim to this. Let's hope Lombardo can do better, he has some coaching experiencing and might mirror Mancini's style of coaching which can only be good if so.

he was born in manchester wasnt he ? hes one of us.

Welsh was an absolute joke. Doesnt feel nice reading it though, so I questioned him on it, and to be fair he replied and told me in quite obvious terms that he was referring to Welsh

Benali has made it clear he's not criticising the club, only an unnamed coach who is obviously Welsh. Benali is a blue and loves City, a genuine supporter from youth unlike our entire first team squad so wouldn't take shots at the club itself. I feel bad for him, he was an England youth international who with proper coaching at the important 18-20 level of development could be in a much better position with us or a reputable English side now. He's said it himself, a Serie B side in Italy is making him work harder than the reserve setup of one of England's top clubs was.

on the flipside him playing abroad and learning a new language and footalling ethos may do him the world of good

Did Andy Welsh had something to do with the Rags and their feeder club Antwerp?

That's what I mean, he's obviously gutted to leave City. OK eventually he may not have made the grade.

I go to a lot of the younger games, and this year has seen a definite step down in quality.

You can see the ones who want it. Sad as it is, there are girls that go to these games who must be 15/16, who are one step away from flashing their peanuts at these players, hoping to bag one. It's true, and there are certain players who are actually distracted by this, while the game is going on. It needs sorting. Sooner rather than later.

We looked shite in the EDS games last season, even Celtic twatted us

Celtic twatted us at home because they picked an U-19 team for an U-19 competition while Mr Welsh picked half an U-17 side who were up against bigger and stronger opponents, if not as technically gifted, in very difficult conditions.

Jim Cassel has been missed greatly, the academy lost it's direction with him being abroad I think
I love the job he did but he is not the messiah people make out. Looking forwards he wasnt the man to take us (neither was Welsh)
