Arriving back in the UK on 23rd, first time in 3 years. Just reading that there may be a strike on that day. Just my luck:-(

Opportunist strikes everywhere you turn.

Genuine long term unresolved grievance? Fine. Strike as a last resort, power to the people. Back those fuckers to the hilt.

Bogs not been cleaned? Paper towels not soft enough? Parking space not close enough to the latte machine? Phone the unions these days.

My Missus works at the airport and she mentioned something about a strike when she was speaking earlier tonight, think its 2 days or something possibly, not too sure though as I wasn't really listening.

who are you flying with? The strikes will only affect airlines who are handled by swissport.

strange one this,i work at the airport and know lots of lads who work for swissport, now as far as I know they had a strike planned for the 9th and 10th of this month over a long standing dispute regarding wage rise, this was resolved a day before the planned strike, from what I heard lufty had threatened swissport that they would cancel all flights and send the bill for the loss of trade passenger compo and hotels to swissport, which could basically run into the millions.
ive been off for a couple of weeks now this has appeared,im pretty sure there wont be a strike as I think these dates were part of the original planned strike dates.

back in tomorrow so ill find out a little bit more info.

If you get any info, will you post on here please. Expecting my son home from Japan via Abu Dhabi on Christmas Eve. Flying Etihad (of course)

Flying in? So may not get bags? Tell him to make sure anything needed for Christmas is in his hand baggage. No bag? So what? It will get to you eventually and he can claim £££ per day delayed.

Thanks. If that's right, it'll be fine. Got everything he needs at this end.
