We got shredded in Porto playing a high line against pace and simple balls over the top, we don't seem to be learning.We were torn to shreds, having pace at the back helps when playing with a high line. Walker was fundamental to everything we did. Akanji is horrendous

3/4 weeks learning page 1 of the defensive manual might be better...Just woke up didn’t expect to get beat by them!
Anyway at least the players will get a good 3/4 weeks holidays now!

Pep does my head in sometimes. His favourites constantly get picked despite being wank and played like Khusanov (who is actually rapid and can play a high line) are totally bombed off.
Think it’s to do with he can’t speak English and he always has backed his experience players and always will! Start of the season be Akanji Dias and silva starting the season but least our midfield will be Rodri and Rjenders in front of them

I've just watched our shiny new left back - who is really exciting going forward - demonstrate a total lack of any positional awareness.
Making a move towards the opponent on the ball, who is fully 20 yards away, and leaving the guy running behind you on the halfway line is so basic. All the coaching in the world can't overcome such a total lack of any defensive instinct. Not having seen much of him last year, I was concerned when all the YouTube videos only ever showed him within 30 yards of the opposition's goal. Seems I was right to be.
How can players be called full backs unless they can defend?
This was our first defensive test, and the signs aren't great.

Disappointing result but overall we’ve seen some positives in this tournament, especially with our attack. New guys bedding in well, Doku on fire, Phil looking great. Now they all get the rest we’ve been moaning about them not having and we go again in August. Frankly after the shitshow that was last season, I think we’ve had a good go at this tournament.
More worried about the possible injuries - Haaland, Phil, Rodri? But six weeks off will hopefully help.

Keeps playing Akanji, Dias and Silva and we’re asking for trouble. Akanji especially.

My heart sinks when I see Akanji in the team. It's not that I think he's a bad player, far from it, he's a decent centre half it's just that Pep and the rest of the squad seem to imagine he's some sort of play-maker and contrive to work the ball back to him on every potential attack.
