Al Hilal (N) | CWC | Post Match Thread

Slagged both of them all last season, but Doku maybe looks different this year, early days at least. If we can offer a threat on the other side so that they can't afford to double/triple team him as Al-hilal did, he definitely looks to have something about him.

The above applies to Nunes too, I think.

I'n wondering whether one of the new backroom team has been able to boost their confidence, Nunes in particular seems more comfortable so far (but will never be a full-back :-) )
Doku has been coached to play with his head up and pick out a pass. He is much improved and will be a menace against opponents this season. The last book about Pep of the three written by Marti Peramau (Pep..the Evolution) has a great passage explaining how some players get daily one-to-one video sessions with a Psychologist to get them to calm down in the final moments of a move. It is to stop them being headless chickens. Savio has still got some way to go but Doku seems to have been transformed. This sort of stuff is why Pep is a genius.

The proof will be in the pudding, we are about to see Pep's first originally coached team in his career.

The right back for Al Hilal looked decent, great pass for their second. Maybe worth a look.
Cancelo will always be a class act out on the pitch .... but his attitude can sometimes let him down, and he can be a bit of a prick at other times, that's all!

savio is miles behind. dont know how he keeps getting picked.

Yes, the Treble team was coached by Pellergrini or perhaps Arteta. Not sure Pep could have done the coaching.
Not quite what I meant. The core/base of the team that we have been successful with was already established in City through Mancini and then Pellegrini. Pep tweaked it to move it on another level; was the same at Barce and the same at Bayern. He is now starting fresh.

How many of the players that played in the CL final against Inter played under Mancini or Pellegrini?

One and he went off early injured.

Stop talking shite.

Don't be so daft. Pep rules the roost now. On field player management is gone.

I was just thinking after the sad passing today of Diego Jota how a tragic car crash could affect you.
I'd say that crash that Cancelo was involved in and where his mother died could affect you for the rest of your life.

Nonsense. If we are talking about the treble team that had more or less nothing to do with Mancini and Pellegreni

Wasn't his house also robbed as well when wife and baby daughter there?

Ps am not confusing/ conflating this with Jack's robbery. Iirc Cancelos may have been just before we played Arse start of 2022 when Rodri got last minute winner and a certain very unfunny curly haired so called comedian made racist remarks on twitter. Sure it was all around a similar time.

Doesn't excuse his behaviour but things happen off the pitch that are going to impact on an individual - all human.
