He was, de niro, but he has forfeited any warmth I, and I suspect a good few million more, had for the sour git over the last few seasons. He is one of those unfortunate sods who think that they have the perfect answer long before they have grasped what the question is. I am surprised that the hasn't divulged his cure for cancer and told MotD of the Hansen Peace in the Middle East Plan. He has morphed into a sneering, oily little turd.

He has, noticeably, steered clear of managing a side. I suspect his magic would be of a similar managerial kind as that demonstrated by John Barnes.

As a player, Hansen was one of the best defenders I've seen in all my years watching football. If he'd played for one of the bigger footballing nations, he would have recieved the recognition his ability deserved.

As a pundit, he's gone completely stale. He just repeats the same old lazy crap week after week and rarely, if ever, has anything new or insightful to say. The sooner MotD ditch him for someone fresh the better. And he can take that tosser Lawrenson with him too.

Say what you like about Fergie, but he's obviously a good judge of people and he saw fit to leave Hansen out of Scotland's squad for Mexico 86.

I think Hanson's footballing punditry is one of the worst out there. He knows absolutely nothing about european or world football and it was so cringeworthy watching him and Shearer during the WC with niether possesing an ounce of knowledge. I mean at least fo some fucking research before a match and you might not be surprised that a Slovakian team under the wings of one of the best midfielders Marek Hamsik (who? he said) can beat an ageing Italian side. Saying that he is not far off in his assesment of the title race. If we win tomorrow all that might change, but if we approach it like we had approached the rest of the games vs top teams then I can#t see us winning the title either.

Taggart also saw fit to let Tevez go, so perhaps he's not always right. Enough Liverpool managers, with very sound judgement, thought Hansen was good enough for their great teams of the period. Interestingly, one reason Taggart left Hansen out of the WC squad was because of his unwillingness to appear in friendlies, and now Taggart is one of the biggest cuplrits around for pulling his own players out of these matches.

Anyway, he's still a crap pundit and, I forgot to mention, dump the bland Shearer too (another outstanding player, but boring and predictable when it comes to analysis).
