Album of the day - Michael Jackson (Bad)

Aw I agree here, if he trimmed the filler on his last 3 albums or even replaced some of the weak songs with some of his better unreleased content then they'd be appreciated a lot more.

Could I be a pain and ask for you to create a playlist of a CD of his last 3 albums (or out-takes). I was a big Jackson fan and saw him 3 times but gave up on him as an artist after History.

In other words almost like a greatest hits (but they don't have to be hits) of his last 3 albums so that I can burn it on to one CD. Cheers

Personally I think Dangerous is hugely underrated as well. Give In To Me is another of his best songs.

Yep Give In To Me is a great song, there's a piano version with his vocals dubbed over on YouTube which is amazing

Of course this is all subjective but I'll give what I feel are his best songs and not what I personally enjoy more. Not sure if this includes Dangerous? But I'll give some from there too.

Dangerous - Black or White, Give In To Me, Who Is It and Remember The Time.
HIStory - Stranger In Moscow, They Don't Care About Us, Earth Song.
Blood On The Dancefloor - Blood On The Dancefloor and Morphine
Invincible - Speechless, You Rock My World, Butterflies and Whatever Happens.

Now I've definitely left some off that others will feel should be included so I'll give an honourable mention list and see if others chime in and feel they should be on there.

In The Closet, Gone Too Soon, Scream, You Are Not Alone, This Time Around, Break Of Dawn and Heaven Can Wait.

Did you see Jackson on The Bad Tour?

Sounds almost like a musical confession of a sordid life.

Haha it does, Scream, You Are Not Alone and This Time Around all came from HIStpry album which was basically about his life so you're half way there. And In The Closet strangely has Jackson groping Naomi Campbell in the music video, mixed vibes there.

Greatest tour ever!

Unbelievable, what makes it even more impressive is that he sped up most of his songs to match his intensity on stage and he was still hitting the notes. Mad to think Drake has tickets going for £110-150 whilst Jackson at his peak was going for around £17 ( seen a picture ) and with inflation, that's around £43.

Cheers pal. I know the dangerous album and also the History album it's after that I gave up on him. Will try and make a CD for t'car from the other 2 plus any out-takes etc that you can mention.

I saw MJ in Cork in 1988, Dublin 1992 and London 1997. The first one (Bad tour) was amazing and the last one (History tour) I thought was poor compared to previous efforts. The first time I saw him back in 1988 was one of the best stadium gigs that I'd ever been to. I remember the whole place went banana's when they did the 'Lean' during Smooth Criminal. To be fair I wasn't a huge Jackson fan before seeing him in concert (that year I'd seen Springsteen, Metallica, Anthrax & Megadeth) but instantly was blown away with the gig and bought Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad. I remember the anticipation at Uni when Dangerous was released loads of people were literally at HMV at 9 in the morning (myself included) and spent the day listening to this new CD. The buzz after the Black or White video from TOTP had everyone talking about him.

Strange thing is I never even listened to his last 2 albums but maybe a bit of time and distance will change my mind

Ah I see, ye he was at his absolute peak with that Bad Tour, sensational stuff, always wished I could have seen him live at that time. I'm sure I read that the Dangerous album has sold more than BAD? What was your reaction at the time to his Marcel Marcaeu type mime dance at the end of Human Nature?

So it's just from his Remix album onwards. 100% go with Blood On The Dancefloor ( #1 UK hit ) and Morphine. Then You Rock My World, Butterflies, Break Of Dawn, Speechless, Whatever Happens from the Invincible album. There's also a bunch of songs that got remixed and released after he died, avoid those and go for the original recordings of Chicago, Place With No Name ( cover of Horse With No Name ), Blue Gangsta, Behind The Mask ( actually an unreleased 80's tune ), Another Day with Lenny Kravitz, Xscape, Love Never Felt So Good ( another unreleased 80's tune ) and For All Time ( and again but was updated in the 90's ). I can't stress enough to find the original recordings, some of the remixes are horrible and often take away Jacksons infectious baselines and melodies.
