Tellin' Stories is the fifth album by the British alternative rock band The Charlatans, released on 21 April 1997. It includes the final contributions of founder-member and keyboard player Rob Collins who died in a car accident midway through recording. The album was their most commercially successful, having three top ten singles, which remain their career's highest charting.

1. With No Shoes
2. North Country Boy
3. Tellin' Stories
4. One to Another
5. You're a Big Girl Now
6. How Can You Leave Us
7. Area 51
8. How High
9. Only Teethin
10. Get on It
11. Rob's Theme

The Charlatans at there peak. A great album and surprised it wasn't more commercially successful - a true rock album, Tellin' Stories and One to another both great songs, the latter one of my all time favourites. Very good. Have a good weekend Blues.

8.5

The best band in my lifetime so far.

25+ years is a exceptionally long time to be making class music.

I'd have to disagree with this being their best LP though. Some Friendly, Between 10th and 11th and Up to Our Hips absolutely shit all over it imo.

I think they sound jaded as fuck on Tellin Stories and as though they don't know where to go next.

Btw the book 'Tellin Stories' is a great read for any fan.

I think they sounded jaded coz they was probably still coming to terms with Rob Collins getting killed and I'm sure it was about that time that their accountant started to fleece them.
Like you said though 25 plus years at the top, losing their mates rob Collins and Jon brookes didn't derail them, they've stood the test of time and churned out song after song at ease.
One of my favourite bands.
