Album of the day - The Charlatans (Tellin' Stories)

I think they sounded jaded coz they was probably still coming to terms with Rob Collins getting killed and I'm sure it was about that time that their accountant started to fleece them.
Like you said though 25 plus years at the top, losing their mates rob Collins and Jon brookes didn't derail them, they've stood the test of time and churned out song after song at ease.
One of my favourite bands.

Word Mani.

A very hit and miss band, to be fair.

I think their only really good album from start to finish, is Up To Our Hips - they really nailed it on that record, plus the production is superb.

Aside from that record, if you picked their best 10 or 12 tracks, you would get a very good 'best of...' Other that that, it's about one or two notches above Northside.

Now I like Northside... but that claim is way off line

Anyone going seeing them next week at Castlefield Bowl? Cannot wait, Super Furry Animals are supporting them as well as the Band from Stockport called the Blossoms who sound decent. I've just bought the book Tellin Stories which should get me in the mood for next week.

Led Zeppelin, The Smiths, The Beatles, Velvet Underground, Pink Floyd, James, Talking Heads, Rolling Stones, Blur, Elbow, Joy Division, Radiohead, The Who, The Beach Boys, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Stooges, The Small Faces...

OK, most of them had the odd blip, but they were all significantly more hit than miss, unlike the Charlatans.

Music's all about opinions I suppose but Blur? Joy Division? James?

Give over mate!
i'd add the smiths ,radiohead and pink floyd to that .radiohead and pink floyd have done albums that would make my top ten as well.I think tim burgess solo career is hit and miss for me though
