Alcohol

Always creates arguments between those close to me, but I drink most days. It might only be 1 pint after work, sometimes 2 or 3 but not very often. I'm a social drinker and enjoy being out and about. The family tell me that makes me an alcoholic but I disagree.

I certainly don't get up with the urge to put whiskey on my cornflakes instead of milk. There are also moments where the thought of alcohol turns my stomach. I also despise being pissed. I can happily throw back 4-5 pints on a night out before I move onto the top shelf, but I'll always drink at least 4 bottles of water during that process.

It can be enjoyed as long as it's controlled. When it takes over you then that is a slippery slope

My tastes have certainly changed as I've got older. The thought of lager theses days knocks me sick, well the shite served up in pubs in this country anyway.

Same here, can't touch Fosters or any of the rubbish lager they serve to the masses nowadays. More into the craft stuff that is actually designed to taste nice and not get you zonked off your t!ts for as cheaply and quickly as possible.

For the last couple months I've really had a hard time enjoying a few drinks. I don't drink often but it seems like when I do I get hammered almost immediately.

Anybody else ever experience this? I'm hoping it's just temporary.
I became allergic to alcohol in my mid-thirties. Really pee'd me off for a few years, especially at Xmas etc..

If I drink too much (a couple of pints of lager) my airways start to close up and I struggle to breathe. Then I get an instant hangover.

I've found real ales and stouts affect me less, even got through four Guinness once.

Haven't been wrecked since Gillingham.

Evil stuff. I love it too much. I really have a problem with it being so readily available and once you you have your first one some time after waking up, it just saps your energy to do anything else but have more. Rinse and repeat.

Hats off to those of you that don't indulge.

Started drinking at around 14, got to 16 and started work, so could afford it without either scrounging or nicking it,
50 odd years later I'm still at it. Always been a beer/lager man and only very occasionally gone on the 'Top Shelf,'
which I'm glad about as that stuff has seen off a good few of my mates.
I never get hangovers, was never late for work, or turned into some nasty twat who can't take his ale and starts
getting gobby and violent, and I can't imagine life without a pint or 6.
