I mean he's gone to the 2nd best team in Italy, will likely be their starting LB, managed to play here for 7 seasons. Clearly highly thought of by those that matter.

I would say to Alex ... thanks very much for the service. It was a pleasure to watch your time at the club. You were streets ahead of most other left backs in the league, let alone the club. You did a job in left midfield when required and even indulged Pep with his centre half experiment. You represent one of the best pieces of business the club has ever done and every city fan should thank you for your committed service. In my 40 years watching City you are comfortably the best Left back since Willie Donachie (and probably better).... thank you

To those that detract from Alex service. You obviously don't remember going through watching the likes of Tony Vaughan or Danny Granville in that position.

Well done Alex, thanks for the memories.

+1
Some fans will remember Tiatto with far more affection, in the same way that Rosler will always be more popular than Dzeko.
I prefer the 5 trophies, the Free Kicks against Napoli and Real Madrid, and the post 6-1 celebrations.

I don't think a player has ever divided opinion like Kolarov. For me I always thought he was weak link and I am glad he's gone - mainly because of two reasons - 1. We needed to assemble a team with much younger players that will grow under Pep's tutelage, and 2. We will see in Mendy the difference of having a quality left back makes to the team. Kolarov did have his moments, but too many times his form dipped and it was telling to me that a lot of other teams always attacked his side and him having little pace left us exposed time and again. Last season he transitioned to back up centre back and did a fine job in several games but once Vinny proved his fitness he really had no future being at the least 4th choice backup. Goodbye Alex - it will be interesting who divides us all next year.

the only thing i am waiting for now is the flapping on here when Kolarov does well for Roma, calling for Txiki to get the sack

Sorry but he was a million times better. The only thing going for Kolarov was his shooting ability, other than that he was was regarded as a so called "hard man".My arse he was.IMO of course.

Agree.
Clichy played against QPR, in the Cup final against the dippers etc..i.e the important games. He did tail off towards the end of his time here, but was a much better footballer than Kola IMO. His only thought was often 'how hard can I twat this ball?' - even in situations that required a gentle cross, or a chip the the far post...TWAT IT!

As for his faux hard man image...absolute lol.

Not having to watch Kolarov play left back for us ever again is a highlight of this transfer window for me.....never rated him and wanted him gone years ago.

faux hard man who couldn't tackle

no loss whatsoever

and the fact we got decent money for him is even better.
