I think Bobby knows what he's doing, and knows far more about this player than anyone in this thread. Let's trust the guy who got us an FA cup and 3rd in the league. Give Cerci a chance before you slag him off already ffs.

I guess you are too sensible, mate.

I asked a Fiorentina fan about him recently, here's what he said:

"Pacy wide man but was really disappointing for us until last few games of the season. Change of surroundings be good for all."

"Not a pricey move then?"

"Would not have thought so, although I think Mihajlovic thinks more of him than most of the fans do."

Gosh , We have some real Idiots out here .... Slagging a young player off because he is not in his International team ,..
People now don't have faith in Mancini's choice ... :(

Looks like they want a 20-40mp player with high wages, because we will play CL and a young 7mp with low ages won't play well .

Give it a chance FFS , Not all our squad players are big buys.
He's 24, I don't consider that particularly young. Ray Wilkins said that really footballers don't improve that much after the 20-23 perdiod of their careers. It's just experience that grows into the late 20's.

Agh well it must be true then........

Is he really better than Weiss, you have to wonder? Weiss who would cost us nothing in transfer fee and wages, who is still improving, who is younger, who is homegrown, who has World Cup and Champions League experience.

Hope Bob knows what he is doing, our signing record from Serie A has been atrocious so far, but he did call Cerci the best winger in Serie A last year so has scouted him.

So they got him on a free transfer a year ago now we pay £ 7 million for him.

Sorry but this has shit pointless signing written all over it. We have 12 players or so who are not good enough why take a punt on another squad filler who struggles to get on the bench ?

Honestly much rather we kept swp or gave Weiss a go. Seria a is shit at the end of the day it's the 4 th league of Europe.

Do we really want a free transfer signing from a mid table side in a shit league ? It might sound ungrateful but I would rather keep what we have than take a punt on An italian who is likely not as good as what we have. Hope it's not true, could be mancinis rsc signing but for half the money.

Doesn't say he's signed yet, just says it's nailed on

The rumors were already circulating yesterday, in these minutes have 24 Sky Sports shows the interest of Manchester City for Alessio Cerci . The deal, indeed, seems on the verge of closing, the two companies may already have reached an agreement. The destination is one of those players like to credit the Citizens and in Fiorentina 7 million euros .

Second Republic , Alessio Cerci is pretty much a Manchester City player . The deal was in the air for some days now it is already concluded. In the last hours, the parties filed the gap between demand and supply, and the white smoke is just around the corner. Six and a half million euros , this is the figure that the club should credit the Roberto Mancini Fiorentina. For the signature, now, is expected to return from vacation Cerci (in Spain). Estimating the former violates the decisive technical to the outside and, above all, the disastrous relationship with the square Cerci.

A bit worrying when Italians are commenting "hahahaha" and "#wtf" on Twitter about this deal.

You want to keep SWP? Cerci cannot be any worse.

As for Weiss...he simply isn't good enough.

I am prepared to give the benefit of the doubt to our manager. Maybe some others should too.

Well youtube made Jo look a decent player!! but just had a look at this lad he's nearly 6 foot looks completely capable with left and right foot and scored a header as well to boot. Possibly be a good squad player. If Roberto reckons he's the best winger in Italy he'll do for me.

I have not watched Cerci, but you will find a fair few attacking players who do relatively poorly in Serie A but do well in another league. I give you Henry as an example.

Doesn't sound good. I watched him on youtube and he was decent on youtube. Looks tall and quick but i have not heard good things about him. Just a few good games in a season.

Honestly...i dont understand this transfer at all. If it happens. He hasn't even been capped for Italy once!

Damn...Mancini. Wtf are you doing? Only because he is Italian...i have been laughing about the Henderson deal but this is going to hit me back in the arse.

Come on even with very blue glasses on this sort of signing is hard to get excited about. It's the sort of risk punt we were taking in Stuart Pearce days.

Everybody is moaning but I'm failing to see how he can make us a worse team by coming here, he can surely only improve us? He's an addition and so therefore an extra option, he might turn out to be an inspired signing, he might turn out to be a complete flop. If he's a flop though, then he's not an extremely expensive one ala Rocky, we can drop him and we'd have the rest of a quality squad to draw on. It's a low risk venture really at £6m.

I have faith in Mancini as a tactician. If he thinks that this guy gives us an extra dimension or a bit of strength in depth then lets at least give the guy a chance before we say stuff like "he doesn't even know how to kick a ball" which is, quite frankly, pathetic when you've not seen the lad play even 90 minutes.

You are possibly the most negative poster on the forum.
