Not in the slightest, they buy players a tier or two below what we want. Certainly nobody who makes me think "he is a game changer" or othrwise raises eyebrows. It is all very "meh" with them i find.
Maybe he's not a 'game changer' I don't know a great deal about him. But, I do know we desperately need a left-back.
Without knowing a thing about him, I can guess he's better than nothing. And, at just £13m he wouldn't have been much of a gamble. He must be absolute bobbins if we think we'd be better of not bothering to strengthen at LB rather than bring this lad in for pocket change.

I dont think he is worse for 14m than Mendy for 50m,
Also he has to be really bad to be worse than Luke Shaw.

and if he does not work out they will shift him to Italy or Spain for 10m pounds, losing hardly anything.

Conte at Inter for example is happy to buy any United flop these days.

We seriously should contact one of these managers somewhere, give them 5m pounds in brown envelope and tell them they have to push their clubs to buy our flops and give them % of each move too to motivate them even more.

Him coming to us would have been better for him imo, i don't think he is crap. When i say him going to Utd does not bother me i am refering mainly to the larger issues they have, centre backs, Pogba (they play better without him but is seemingly undroppable), right back unable to get forward and have much influence, main strikers not being very good, amongst other issues. Adding a more capable left back is a drop in the ocean imo for them progressing.

He is a good addition but not one that will drive them to any sort of success alone. If they got him, a proper right winger, a genuine young deadly striker and a top cb in one window then i'd raise eyebrows a little. As a lone signing it doesn't bother mein the slightest.

His talents would get amplified here due to the players and tactics around him so would certainly have him. I think at utd he will be another poor soul who has all his attributes nullified after a while. He will try hard, others will be responsible for losses, be it players or manager tactics and he will lose his gloss with it and become another jaded player at utd.

So we could have swapped Garcia for him with change to spare? But we now have no LB and will get next to nothing for Garcia. Feel we've fucked up badly here.

I'm glad: Barcelona cannot be allowed to dictate to us so well done the board. BTW. Alex Telles?

Yeah, we'd get a player who's a definite upgrade on Mendy or Zinchenko for next to nothing. If he didn't work out, we could easily get more than we paid for him.

And how have we won the battle with Barcelona? He's going to leave on a free when he's our 5th choice CB, for the sake of haggling over a few million. We're weaker for not getting a LB, and we're poorer for not getting the 17mil.

We are not weaker by not getting this guy. Sometimes you have to make a stand.

Nah, it seems no matter which way we play it, we always come off worse when it comes to selling. We'll have sold Angelino, Garcia and Tosin for less than 20m total for all 3.

If you ignore add ons and selling clauses. Why aren't you discussing the fee for Ota and Leroy?

Otamendi fee was irrelevant. He could of gone for a free and we pay 65mil, or 15 mil and we get Dias for 50mil, or he went for 100mil and we paid 150mil for Dias. Makes no difference. And Sane we barely made a profit on for one of the best wingers in the world because we let him wind his contract down.

It does make a difference then!!

Did Sane not wind down his own contract, get tapped up by scundrels and get a really bad injury. Not sure how we could have got out of that one any better than we did.

How does it? He's basically leaving on a free. And we're subsidising his wages. What 'fee' are we getting if it's basically just a bookeeping trick? We're no better off.

might we hadn’t been able to use him in the transaction we would have a higher outgoing sum for Dias & still have Otemendi on our books. Good business
