Alexander Isak | Cried his way to a £130m move

Liverpool could end up with the 1st, 2nd and 9th highest transfers in Premier League history. That Coutinho money sure went a long way.
No no you’ve got it completely wrong.
I thought like you but apparently we’ve been spending our dirty oil money but they on the other hand are spending the prize money they got for winning trophies.
Wish we’d done that ; )

And don't forget the money they've generated from sales. They got £8m for TAA remember and £30m for that lad Quansah!!!!!!

Just had the best scoring season of his career(27)...Which would be Erlings worst.

Gyokeres 2x outscored him in less games for Sweden last year too.

Unique striker given his height mixed with elite dribbling, makes him fun to watch. But not arsed if they get him and Newcastle be mad to not take that kind of money and reinvest.

I rate Isak and think he’s a great fit for us and our style of play but I think them losing Diaz is actually massive, he scored 17 last year and he had same physical attributes as Mane. Gakpo isn’t a patch on Diaz and I don’t think Wirtz will be a physical player. They’re defo gonna lose something there. And they’ve tragically lost Jota who was again a big player in terms of big goals and work rate. Not sure getting Isak repairs the damage done by losing Jota, Diaz and even Tront. That’s a lot of goals/assists they have to find.

...

Do you think doku, Savinho, cherki and marmoush could score the 73 goals that kdb, sterling, mahrez and Jesus got for us that season? I wouldn't be confident they'd get half.
I think the combination of Foden, Doku, Reijnders, Marmoush, Ait-Nouri & Cherki could. Admittedly, less certain of Savinho's contribution at this moment in time.

I'm certainly excited to see what they can all do. I'd rather look forward than backward myself.

This the one I think Liverpool really need of all their signings

Wirtz is the "generational talent" but hes taking the spot of Szoboszlai or Dias, 2 pretty key players to accommodate him

Frimpong couod go either way, Kerkez is class but again is he gonna match Robertson at his peak?

They need a new #9, really badly and Isak is a star...Ekitike I cant say i know much about but hes only really had 1 stellar season and seemed to struggle at PSG so will he do well with a huge price tag in his head

Only thing id say about Isak is his injury history, he has had any big injuries but he gets alot of groin/Hamstring injuries.... something perhaps a bit concerning for a player who's a bit of a pace merchant

Pressures on Slot with all this money spent and a lot of big characters who will all want to start every game

No hiding behind Klopps squad, many of whom hes let go and broke up the squad quote dramatically (even someone like Kelleher is a integral part of the squad)

21/22 season
KDB - 17G (15G + 2G)
Sterling - 16G (13G + 3G)
Mahrez - 18G (11G + 7G)
Jesus - 12 G (8G + 4G)

Make that as 63 goals between the 4 across the Prem & Champions league, the 2 main competitions

Those were our main 4 goal outlets that season, so its not really a fair comparison as we do have Haaland and he is a 30G all comps guarantee even in a poor season, hes obviously going to take goals off the others when you have a player like that. Also, you know Foden... hes still here and will be our biggest goal threat behind Haaland and Marmoush

That said Marmoush had 19G in half a season at Frankfurt and then 8G in a half season with us, think hes got more in his locker he could surpass the goals of all 4 of those you mentioned

Cherki got 12G in Ligue 1 & Europa last year, matching Jesus tally for the season above

Doku & Savinho we all know need to improve their end product, and they have the talent to do so

Foden, Marmoush and Cherki could get 50 goals between them then Doku/Savinho can get that to 60 goals... ans that's not including Haaland

I'd add another 15 from Reijnders, Rodri, Gonzalez,Kovacic. That's without any from defenders.

Mahrez was ridiculously underrated. Even by me at the time.

We've definitely got more than enough goals in the squad. Even Reijnders got 15 last season for Milan. Marmoush/Haaland are the best and most productive front 2 in the league.

Not sure why you wouldn't include both cup competitions too, we play to win everything, but okay.

Its a completely fair comparison because the post i quoted was talking about a potential return to a false 9 in the absence of haaland so he doesnt factor into it at all, why would I bring up haaland in a scenario where haaland is unavailable?

I purposefully omitted foden, aswell as gundo and bernardo because they were all in the squad the last time we played false 9. The older players i mentioned are the players we've lost since and new guys mentioned are their replacements who would have to replace the goals and assists. Only Marmoush has any chance of replicating those figures.

We had goals across the side in the false 9 era and created chances galore, thats why it worked, we dont have that anymore. We're geared to play with a striker, expecting us to just be able to play a false 9 well with virtually an entirely different set of players who arent suited to it just because it's worked before makes no sense.

So even if we played with Haaland all season you don't think we'll score much because they're all new?

Look how many big games we play though? Who's the bigger game out of ManUre, Arsenal, Dippers, Real, Bayern, PSG etc?

We rarely go two weeks without having to face an elite opponent. Over the course of a season, each player will surely receive enough elite game time.
United is the biggest game.
