Alexander Isak | Cried his way to a £130m move

Im not sure how Newcastle win in this situation.

IF they keep him (which of course they are entitled to do) they will end up with a very unhappy player (ok so who cares about him) but also with a very unhappy squad - other players wont like what is going on either way - some might be thinking -what if an offer comes in for me - will the club sell me (someone like Livramento for instance). Others will rightfully feel betrayed by him (they are trying to build something big and he wants to leave them).

The biggest issue will be the fans however - I just don't see that the Geordie fans will every accept him back. Football fans are fickle (and Tevez did something similar to us - though that wasn't about wanting to leave but he did basically refuse to play at one point) but this has been extremely public and is slightly different...Isak is saying I dont want to play for you anymore...Tevez's fall out was personal between him and Mancini.

Would we accept someone back who did the exact same thing? I dont think we would regardless of who it was.

And if the fans wont accept him back then I dont think the club have a choice but to sell him - they surely wouldnt leave a player in the reserves/on the bench for 3 years,..and his value will only depreciate with time.

edit: Id love Newcastle to win out however I just dont see it happening. ..be very funny if they did.

I think the two play each other very soon as well...that wil be extremely toxic
Liverpool did it with Countinho and Suarez.

United did it with Ronaldo and Heinze or however the fuck you spell it.

Spurs did it with Kane.

Plenty of players say they’ll never play for a club again, until the transfer window closes.

Can't see anyway back for Isak now after that statement, unfortunately I think the Dippers will come back in with an offer of £130m and Newcastle will reluctantly accept it. Monday nights game should be fun, hopefully the players will be chomping at the bit to get one over the Dippers.
Newcastle's haven't got a centre forward at the club, Gordon had to play there against Villa. So unless Newcastle suddenly sign 2, Isak will be going nowhere, and seeing as they haven't even been able to replace Wilson yet, not sure that's particularly likely.

I hope they stand firm, but even if they kept Isak they will have a player who doesn't want to be there and who could cause unrest in the camp. I suspect they will get Wissa in and maybe go for Jackson.

Alvarez would be the best choice if he was willing to go there.

Said before, Isak should be pissed off with Liverpool not Newcastle. If Liverpool wanted him so badly, they should have allowed Newcastle to sign his replacement first. They needed two strikers this window with Wilson going and Isak potentially being sold. Liverpool have fucked things up by signing the player Newcastle wanted as a potential replacement for Isak. Instead, they are now facing extortionate fees for any replacement and if they get the extra £30m they wanted, it's straight out the door being overspent on their new striker.

They should play hardball, keep Isak and go and do a deal with Chelsea for one or both of Nkunku/Jackson - even on loan.

Alexander Isak is one stupid stupid man! All the money in the world really can't buy a single piece of brain cell..

Anyone else get the feeling he ends up at Chelsea? Liverpool will walk away and Boehly will be happy to pay the 140+.

I don't get what the big deal about the transfer fee is. Liverpool never spends any money anyway, right? He's leaving to play for them on a free, while taking no wages, cause of his love for the shirt surely?

Not sure if many footballers are the brightest ?
The very good players are signed at 7/8, wrapped in cotton-wool, away from the real world.
They rely on their club and their agent (often in partnership) to advise and guide them.
It would appear that Isak's agent has misread the situation and badly advised his player ?
Liverpool have not paid Newcastle's valuation, so NUFC do not have to sell. £110 million for him us not his market value.
Personally, I would not sell my prize asset to a Premier League rival.
I would now offer him a loan deal to a top European club, with that club topping up his required wage increase.
Review the situation after this season.
If he plays well, Real Madrid will come in for him, which would really piss Liverpool off...

I really wish one club who could afford it would just say fuck you we are not selling end off, let him sit it out for 12 months.

The impression that Newcastle are weak and will fold has been wrong from the start. They ain't fools and won't be bullied by Liverpool.

I agree with Newcastle. He is not a Liverpool player yet. I’d demand ridiculous money for him. Make Liverpool pay especially when they are one of the clubs that talks shit about them and us

Just assume they're brainless and then you can understand them.

Pretty obvious that Palace want to get a replacement sorted before a club sees them get £60m for Eze etc...
I mean if everyone knows that they are getting 60M what does it change
