Alexander Isak | Cried his way to a £130m move

Fair play to the dippers. Won the league and broke the transfer record twice straight after it rather than standing still.

I remember we won the league and signed an ageing Gundogan on a free.

I’m sure we’ll become ruthless again but it shows the difference currently.

I’m hoping it was Txiki’s attitude and not Pep’s. Because if it’s the latter, we won’t move away from the emotional aspect of squad planning until he goes. If it was Txiki then we’ve got Viana.

A panic Nunes, a project Doku and a cheap Kovacic after the treble. And a Walker extension.

However, I look forward to the ‘how can anybody compete’ articles…

Social media will be full of people moaning about FFP/PSR/buying the league etc but it’s pure ambition from the scousers and let’s face it, it’s the type of ambition that we used to show. The easiest thing to do, is win something and the think it’s job done. They’re showing it’s just the start, they want a decade of domination like ours.

I want to know what my club is going to do about it and it’s seemingly very little. We used to buy from a position of strength, where our side was so good, it didn’t matter if we had the odd abomination of a signing. Now we are very much on the decline, we can’t afford fuck ups in the market and that’s an awful position to be in. Especially when there seems to be far more fuck ups than not. We have stopped shopping for the very best and are instead buying players that are at least one level below and hoping/praying they become the best. We would rather buy 2 x £50m or 3 x £35m players and cross those fingers, instead of targeting the real top class.

We are paying for it now, but we do so knowing that we have recently won 4-in-a-row so it doesn’t sting too bad. This will hurt like hell if it becomes 5+ years of it. The only way to stop this decline, is to stop targeting gamble transfers like the likes of Doku, Marmoush, Nunes, Phillips, RAN, etc etc. and instead, go for the best. Stop with the idea that the likes of Rico are good enough. It’s pure fantasy.

We’ve all seen how this story ends with other clubs that had periods of dominance, make no mistake, we are the next in line, if we don’t alter our way of thinking. We’ve rested on our laurels in recent windows. Change it now, or become the next 80s scousers or 00s rags.

Liverpool have sent Tsimikas on loan to Roma.

Now let's watch people tally up his wages towards to reduce their net spend, and argue that is paying off the Isak move, or some shit like that.

Yeh fair play, but they'd be crying and writing another grassing letter if it was us

I've got no problem with Liverpool or anyone else spending big on the best players. What I do have a problem with is the rank hypocrisy of it all, with their years of pretending they never spend money and their trophy cabinet full of net spend trophies. And of course the media have fully supported this fantasy.

Haha. No loyalty bonus for Isak anyway, Newcastle have negotiated it out.

He could’ve been there weeks ago if he’d have handed in a transfer request!

No no no that was after we won the league for the 4th year in a row- BIG DIFFERENCE. They won’t come close to achieving that

If you add our January window we have a very similar net spend to Liverpool over the past 2 windows.

Madness. Just shows how well run they are

Fucking gutted about this. Not that I wanted us to sign him, just that we don’t show this kind of ambition with transfers.

Why do we see Rice, Wirtz, Isak going to our main rivals yet we waste it on unproven youngsters and persist with old players no longer good enough?

They were net-spend champions for a number of seasons, they did ok trophies wise but didn’t dominate. Our own club has decided in recent seasons that we want to be net-spend champions. Some of our fans celebrated this just like theirs did.

We got away with it and managed to stay at the top, because we already had a number of elite players, who had been at the club for years (when we actually dominated the transfer market, as well as on the field). Most of those players have gone, we are now left with our net-spend squad and look at the state of it. Just look at it.

Arguably, we now only have 2 world-class players, we used to wheel out half a dozen every week. We have a bunch of former top-class players, who are now either too old, too injury prone, look like they no longer care, or a horrid mixture of all three. Then we throw in some youngsters, who fans are blindly kidding themselves over. As well as a significant number of the squad, who are no better than mid-table level.

The club needs to stop worrying about what people say on social media. Use the fact that Liverpool are spending £400m and go and do it ourselves. Don’t buy 8 players for that money. Buy 3 or 4 and start turning the corner now.

Agreed. Nobody will.

But each window represented ambition after winning. Doesn’t matter if a free Gundo was after 1 title or 7 on the bounce, it wasn’t good enough.

Fair play to them - in one window they have signed 5 players who can come in and impact the first team. We have signed more than that and spent more than that since Jan and have signed one player who looks like he may improve the first 11. They have looked at our failings and made sure they don’t mirror them just like we used to do with United.

The scousers will win the league at a canter again. They're not fucking around in this window, signing top quality players and selling as well

Had a push notification from Athletic: ”Why Isak is actually worth £130m” - can you make this shit up. As soon as we have signed someone for more than £60m we splash the cash and the spend is questioned. Even KDB
