It appears that Wallpapergate has re-arisen, with the Mail revisiting their original story by citing a Cabinet office report.
The Mail say that the Cabinet Office paid the £58k, and then the Conservative Party paid the Cabinet Office. Then in March, the designer refunded her fee, and then the Cabinet Office refunded that to the party before Johnson covered the £28k that was not covered by the allowed Cabinet Office allowance of £30k.

I remember my dad talking about that public schoolboy affected stutter which they learn. “Chinless wonders” my dad used to call people like him, a phrase you don’t hear any more. I liked the phrase that an ex-army poster used in here the other week to describe over-promoted posh boys: “Super Rupert”.
Ive never hated a British politician more.

The taxpayer. He is not only white, he’s big, too.
Otherwise the Eton-and-Oxford-educated journalist who wrote this would surely have used punctuation to make his meaning clear: as in “the big, white, British taxpayer-funded bird.”

Watched "Have I got more news for you" last night, with Hislop schooling everyone on Johnson's misuse of public funds to fund his lover's business (effectively we paid for his "escort" on foreign trips). We taxpayers didn't even get to haggle about the price

contractor does work for you. Submits and invoice and you pay. Not in Johnson world - they have taken time to come up with this tale of jiggery pokery which if anything makes the flat refurb look even more dodgy

PM is now the perfect job he had wished for. ‘Freedom Day’ on Monday - not his fault for anything any more. Working 1 hour a week - Wednesday PMQ’s, walk around on visits rest of the time in hard hat and fluorescent vest. What’s not to like. Nice work if you can get it.
