The fact that you know who is financially backing the Labour Party tells its own story.
The trade unions, whether you like them or not, are democratic organisations who ballot their members on leadership and political donations.
The unions have never tried to conceal what they want in return for donations- they want their jobs and futures to be as secure as possible for their families and that is perfectly legal and a matter of record
On the other hand, where does the tories money come from?
Some political donations are declared as required by law, but what is expected in return for the money is not declared and only when we get Owen Paterson, or dodgy PPE contracts situations do we get an idea of the unwriteen quid-pro-quo.
Just what do multi-millionaires and large businesses want in return for their largesse? Obviously there is the cash for peerages which puts into power people whose only qualification is having enough wealth to buy a say in the governance of this nation. What is their motivation? A touching concern for the downtrodden masses perhaps?
As for Starmer just wanting people sacked to further his own career- ask why the PM wanted to do away with the job of parliamentary standards commissioner and who would have benefited from that job loss.
Too good for just a like. Well said.

Whilst she was rightly prosecuted for fraudulent activity, it’s a bit desperate digging up a fraud case from 9 years ago that related to fraudulent activity beginning in the last century and finishing 12 years ago, with the total value over 13 years equivalent to a few rolls of Boris’s wallpaper.
Two cheeks. Same arse. Pigs in the trough on all sides of the Commons.

Not sure what your point is. I said labour aren't perfect but we all know for every Labour MP taking the piss you can find 10 tories doing worse.

When Labour MPs get found out it tends to finish them, tories often end up getting promoted.
Labour MPs are no better. And I say that as a Labour voter. The MPs’ expense scandal demonstrated that. Cash for honours, cash for questions, 2nd houses etc, no difference. Blunkett had more revivals than Lazarus, as did Mandy.

From the start of the 2nd World War until well into the 1950s, whisky was not only expensive, but more importantly it was in short supply because of grain rationing, yet Churchill drank a bottle a day.

I state this simply to illustrate that in a hierarchical society it would not have crossed anyone's mind to question this state of affairs, there were those that govern and those that were governed, this wasn't a sliding scale, different sets of rules applied.

This is Johnson's world.

When the buffoon says he didn't break any rules, in a sense he's telling the truth, because he can't break rules that don't apply to him.

This isn't a question of morality, he's the fat controller, he controls, that's what fat controllers do, it's what they've always done, they give orders, they don't take them.
Charles Manson: “I don’t break laws. I make them.”

Remember - they are stickling with him because he is a proven winner...............

I must have missed the GE that he lost. Or are we into “best team winning at half-time” territory? Which, as football fans, we all know, counts for shite. Let’s not kid ourselves that Labour are going to overturn an 80+ seat majority soon. Johnson could well ride this out and be laughing his way back to parliament as PM in 2024. It’s a frightening thought but a realistic one. As Neil Kinnock can aver.

Has a serving prime minister lied as much as the current one or been as corrupt?

Can’t recall one. I can just about remember back to Heath but no subsequent PM seems quite as high on the mendacious scale as this one. Doesn’t mean he’s not a “winner “ though, which is what I was replying to.
