Johnson’s claiming that he won’t change simply means that the same thing will recur. Other people will be put forward to mouth His ’explanations’, yet when those explanations are almost immediately disproven, it will lead to another resignation.

With so many resignations, a problem he might soon face is having insufficient people to fill positions.

And they're still coming this morning - the lack of bodies is what will bring the whole thing down, I agree. I think you're right though that they're looking at him thinking "it'll be me next".

I think Sunak/Javid waited for him to deliver that awful 'apology', before picking the 6 pm news to drop the bombshell.

Absolutely not, I think the BBC have been fantastic value for the money. Disgusted with the government infiltration.

I think the BBC and other media are a bit stuck here - they can't advocate that the govt falls, because that is an overtly political statement. They do however have plenty of talking heads on saying Johnson/the govt need to go.

It would be more unthinkable for the news to say that he has to go, rather than assess the position. That position is clearly that there isn't an obvious successor in the party.

It's over now. A solid stream of resignations today and back benchers falling over each other to signal they have lost support.

They have the numbers to take him out via a change to the rules and subsequent vote. So the shit show from here on is all unnecessary. Does he resign ahead of PMQs? Or make this really ugly? I've said he will need dragging out screaming and that is where this is heading.
