Is his defence really "nobody told me and you can't prove that anyone did"?

Presumably the thing about there being no documentation will provoke a question "is there documentation that you were told it was okay, or is there no written record at all"?

Did entering a room full of people drinking, and with many wine bottles on the table make you think "ah a work event"?

I wonder how many times they will have to ask him to answer the questions given and not try to confuse the issue.

he was photographed raising a glass in a toast and he has been shown to have made a speech at a leaving do - to accept that is the action of a man who didn't know he was attending a party would men the only conclusion would be to abandon the enquiry and have Johnson sectioned as he is clearly away with the fairies - Thats before you ask about the ABBA party in his own flat......

Maybe that level of daily consumption was the only way they could put up with being in Johnson's Downing St.

I think there’s something in his defence that the wine bottles on the table don’t mean it wasn’t a work gathering.

There’s been a fair few decisions made in Downing Street in the last few years that can only be sensibly explained on the basis that they were made by people who were much too pissed to understand what the fuck they were doing.

page 3:
"it would have been equally obvious to dozens of others who also attended the gatherings I did"

Hang on, DOZENS??? how could dozens be in one place indoors without it breaching the rules? Or is he claiming that it was a smaller number over many gatherings?

There doesn't appear to be a great deal more to his waffle than "I wasn't told it was wrong" apart from a lot smearing the committee.
No idea why he's wittering about the passageways being a bit cramped - I doubt anyone thinks that passing someone in a corridor breached the rules.
Oh, and a lot of semantic argument that following rules, regulations, laws and guidance are all different things; presumably he only bothered with those that he wanted to.

I liked "the discredited Dominic Cummings". Cue Dominic....

A whole lot seems to be his oft-described need to reinvent events such that they suit his mindset.
