Interesting.
Basically that reads to me to say that it's entirely down to the Conservatives to decide what happens.
Will they try to get him off any suspension and risk how that looks?
Will they bin him completely (let's face it, no, they won't. Even Mad Nads will remember she has a day job).

There doesn't seem much point in Labour trying to amend anything unless they know that 40 Conservatives will vote with them.

Privileges Committee have handed him their dossier with proposals.
He has two weeks to respond to them, and it's not meant to become public, for report finalisation, likely by the end of June.

Then it goes to the govt, who decide when to put it to the Commons - probably before the July 20 end of term.
It'll be an "Exclusive" in the Sunday Torygraph when Johnson "loses it".

No matter how compelling the evidence will be, it will be another Sunak no show, failing to act when it comes to making decisions about their own.

In a sense you are right, but it's all just theatre at this stage.

Boris hanging on like an unwelcome houseguest perfectly symbolises the whole Tory party and I'd imagine would be a big campaign selling point to get 'em out.

I'm not sure Sunak has the clout to make much difference - it'll be a free vote, and Johnson's suddenly started to show up and masquerade as an MP. The Speaker can presumably choose which amendments are heard, but I can't think of many things that can be amended - the recall option for a 10 day suspension is not a Commons decision to make.

Sunak can probably ask the whips to vote one way, but there are a lot of troublemakers (Mogg, Dorries, ...) who want Sunak out and Johnson back. Just depends how many want him gone for good.

Indeed. Alienate chunks of the public or alienate the party membership. Rock and a hard place.

If the report recommends 10 day suspension and they amend to bring it down, then it's a very bad look.

If they fail to see that rescuing their party is only likely to be possible by blaming it all on Johnson and his pervasive influence on ethics and standards there isn't much help for them.

If the party membership are so deluded they think "Britain Trump" can become the comeback kid it's clear the lunatics have taken over the asylum.

Being reported by the Times that Dorries and Sharma have been dropped from the list to avoid by-elections. Presumbaly they'll then be given them later, but it looks like a deal being done.

Also Johnson Sr's knighthood has been dropped.
