I hear The torygraph has turned on Johnson saying he's finished in its headlines today. It won't be long now tick tock, tick tock.

In his defence, being PM at this time was never going to be easy, it would take a PM of real stature, one who was prepared to be brutally honest with the country. Instead we got the worst possible PM at the worst possible time and frankly if he had any shred of decency left he would resign.

I can't help thinking that someone was instructed to march round saying "I assure you that there was no party" every 10 seconds.
Hey presto! "I have been repeatedly assured..." becomes true, and ignores the other information that there very definitely was a party.

Answer a slightly different question to that asked.

Yep, totally. Someone has sat on it for a year. Who though? In the pub after work yesterday we were trying to work out who the most prominent anti-lockdown Tory is. Before swiftly moving on to how much we hate Robbie Savage's son.

Spot on this has all been orchestrated and timed to perfection. Waiting for a nearly a year to drop this dead cat takes some political nous, and I would say this is someone likely to be a cabinet member, Johnson is bungling buffoon who couldn't give a shit about being PM he just wants the payoff to retire. He was always going to come a cropper with his constant lies he tells.

It is fun watching him squirm and as many are predicting this isn't the end of this by a long chalk. I just hope that at the same time they implicate the police chief in all this, she is as bent as they come and needs to go,

Former Tory chief whip Andrew Mitchell is calling for "complete transparency" as an official investigation is launched into government staff parties last year.

"This is an unedifying episode of government," the Conservative MP tells BBC Politics Live.

"The government needs to make a complete clean breast of all of this and we need total transparency so they get ahead of the game."

But Mitchell says he is in no doubt Boris Johnson has not misled the house.

"Any prime minister who is speaking from the despatch box who has misled the house would have to resign and I’m sure Boris would never allow himself to be put in that position."
