If we really want him then we will have to pay for him. We should have had this agreement in place with Arsenal really in case the deal in the summer fell through, which of course it did! They had agreed to sell him remember.

It should have been an option to buy him on 1 Jan for £x.

The only advantage of them selling him to us that I can see is that 1. We are not a threat to them at all this season as so far away points wise and 2. He may help us to beat their rivals.

I think it will still take £35m plus for him but it's still cheap at that price so I wouldn't fuck about and would get him in now. I'm sure Pep will get what he wants after the start we have had. He won't want to play as many as 8/9 games with one striker.

You are assuming we are going to bid for him.

City may not yet have the history of European Cups and Champions League successes of other clubs, but regardless of the destination of this Summer's Champions League, we are the Premier club in Europe for players now - certainly in the top 5 to avoid argument! This is the first Summer when we should be outright favourites to buy any available player. Sanchez is good, but he's not that good. We can do much better. I know you'll say who? But wait on. It was Mbappe last Summer. Other players will come to light. Bide our time. There's no rush. Only the best for City. A De Bruyne or a Silva, not a player who has had his best days. Dybala? W You wont see Real Madrid, or Barcelona buying him so why should we. PSG wont either. They've been linked but only because they can't buy players for cash so a free may work for them if no one else is interested.

Wait for the World Cup. There'll be stars that emerge.

If we get Sanchez, hardly a disaster, but a development that represents an opportunity cost for me. A failure to maximise our supreme position in the transfer market where we have the power to buy the best striker in world football. If one isn't clear - then wait. We buy now, we'll make life awkward for ourselves and regret it later.
Like some of your points but just a couple things. Dybala is really good, done the business last night for Juve with lovely finishing. But ok if he's not for us, who do you suggest genuinely?

Liverpool want a player from a premier club that player does everything in his power to be disrupted and basically be a pain to get the move.

Pay the money now.

Not worth the risk for our club to try and save £20m - £30m. We are in an absolutely outstanding position as we enter 2018 but there are problems (both certain and potential) that Sanchez could go a long way to solving.

This is a very good point. I think we're now at the stage where Aguero's replacement might be brought forward. There's only a very limited number of strikers who can fulfil that role in the world. Not sure Sanchez fits that bill

Wenger needs Sanchez to get back into the CL (and do nothing ... as usual), even playing without desire and with a broken dressing room (apparently) he always saves them. We can wait but we will depend on nobody else being injured. Whatever the case ... nobody in their right mind will pay more than £30m for a player with 6 months of contract.

Happy New Year!!

Very strange at arsenal what is going on, because you look at their owners and they have more spending power than liverpool, spurs and possibly united but seem reluctant to want to do anything about it.

Sanchez wants out and rightly so because they have stood still since their last premier league title hanging onto wengers words

With the Jesus injury and Aguero misfiring, we need this deal done asap. The money is irrelevant to our owners and should be irrelevant to we fans.
I watched him today - he's the nearest thing to Tevez we could sign so get it done now - please!

I wonder if they are keeping their, wallets closed because they realise they will have to fund a new managers shopping list within the next year or two?
I suspect the Sanchez move is either already a done deal or not happening. Opening negotiations on Tuesday morning would be about the most desperate thing we've done since the takeover.

Well, according to some twat we put a 29m pound bid in for some old rag has been not that long ago.
We could try to resign Willo Flood and still not top that fucking nugget.

I get the feeling we would have waited until summer unless Arse made us an offer we thought was beneficial in January. But, I suspect once Jesus is assessed if he's out for more than a month/6 weeks we'll move for Sanchez before we announce how long Jesus will be missing for.

Totally agree. No brainer for me.

if the fee is 20 -30 mil I would agree that the potential benefits/ cover are worth it. But you know Arse will be wanting full price ( 60 mil) and will drag it out. GJ may only be out for 4-6 weeks going on what Pep said and if it's a MCL which is what it looks like.

If we are going to get Sanchez it needs to be this week. No point waiting until the end of the month as jesus will be back shortly after

Never know Sanchez might of though fcuk it going PSG to make absolute fortune.

The way he has been playing recently looks like in his mind he knows where his career is going.

With Jesus out, signing Sanchez becomes a priority.

Given we were prepared to pay £60m in the summer. £20-30m should do it in January due to our situation probably £30m.

Sanchez will be thrilled to join in January as he will likely collect a PL medal and can play a big part in our CL run. His motivation will be sky high and we’ll see the Sanchez of last season or better as the team mates around him will be of a much higher quality than at Arsenal.

Get it done.
