Alexis Sanchez

Nailed it. We're not exactly shabby from midfield onwards;
Yaya
Dinho
Gundogan
KDB
Bernardo
Merlin
Sterling
Sane
Jesus
Aguero
Whst we need are two (at least) new FBs and, hopefully a new CB. Sanchez wouldn't be a bad addition to the squad, but he wouldn't be at the top of my wish list.
think we need Sanchez. if anything happens to Kun we have only one striker who is reliable.

Sanchez, Mendy and Walker gives us pretty much everything we need. then its a bonus if we get a defender or anyone else IMO.

It's really getting to them that little old (in their words) "poverty club" City is a more attractive proposition than Arsenal. They're well known to be the worst set of fans around, a hard feat to achieve with so many United fans about but i didn't realise how much they're turning into Liverpool too with the history routine.

They've also convinced themselves they've finished higher than us on average since Sanchez signed and we are therefore no more likely to win the league than they are and are no better than them. I wasn't aware average league standings was a thing but even then, they are plain wrong. 3rd, 2nd and 5th for them compared to 2nd, 4th and 3rd for us, finishing above them twice in those 3 years.
I posted earlier in this thread: if they decline further as a club it's going to get really ugly. That's not nailed on by any means. They have many things going for them as a club, principally linked to their location.

If buying Sanchez contributed to that, i'd be happy for us to pay £100 million for him. Lets see how a club with "prestige, honour and history" unlike us "lottery winners" copes with real mediocrity. It would be glorious to watch. As you say though, it's unlikely to happen. Ironically, the very thing they claim to hate, money, will keep them up there just like how United managed to cling on and spend spend spend until they show signs of catching up.

Did you expect them to do anything different?

Good evening. Arsenal fan here. I'd gladly let him leave for free next year (IF the article is true). Although I'd guess, these figures were probably set only to agitate a move away from Arsenal. Out of pure interest: would you support City paying them for Alexis?
It's an academic question. Just isn't going to happen. Partly because he isn't worth that.

I remember speaking to an estates manager where I worked 20 years or so ago, about a tender for building works at a property where I was involved in the retail side of the business. One of the three quotes was much higher than the other two and I asked him, 'why the discrepancy?' - "because they didn't want the job" was his reply. There is a similar principle with Sanchez quoting 400k. If he's demanded that, it's because he doesn't want to be at Arsenal next season.

I couldn't care less what we pay any player. Not my money. Whenever I hear, "what's it / he worth?" the answer is always "whatever anyone wants to pay for it / him".

That will be those for whom thought is offensive. I'd like to contribute to this topic in reply to comments above, but it's really not worth it

Personally i think players already earn far far to much but sadly this is a gripe i will hold against the game until i leave this earth i dare say boss. I certainly would not like to be the trend setters like utd have been though, i know that.

We should conjure a deal for Andrea Belotti if we can't get Alexis.

That'll be the Arsenal premium- he knows that you won't be prepared to payi him that much. But, it will be highly unlikely that he would be on that wage here.

Not a chance he walks in to City with £400k a week in his pocket - £20.8m a year is madness. We always get labelled high payers in wages yet we are always further down the list in total wage bill amongst the top clubs, it doesn't happen like that here anymore.

I think if you offer it him he'll sign because it's crazy money; that's just his premium for staying. If he lands here he won't be on peanuts, but I'd be amazed if it surpassed £250k.

Nope. The club wouldn't consider it either. Not gonna pay him close to double what Aguero and Toure is/was on.

I can't see that figure being true but I'd Arsenal offer him that, of course he will stay. I can't see City paying anywhere near that, City don't have to as by the looks of things City turned Sanchez head months ago

All this 400k-a-week business, is just PR from Arsenal:
Phase 1 - buy a striker
Phase 2 - tell the world what Sanchez 'demands' are. Real or otherwise
Phase 3 - label him and trouble causer and a mercenary
Phase 4 - new striker scores against a Leyton Orient 11 in preseason
Phase 5 - label new striker the new Henry
Phase 6 - tell the world Sanchez wants out but Arsenal dont need him now anyway
Phase 7 - sell Sanchez to City
Phase 8 - Boo
