Alexis Sanchez

He is miserable at Arsenal, We won't pay more than 20 which Arsenal won't accept. So why should he not move to Utd. We paid so much money for players like Bony, Mangala, Sincliar in the past. That was ridiculous. And now when a guy like Alexis is available we won't budge? That is stupid. I am sure he won't mind taking 50K less, but he wants to fuck off from Arsenal ASAP and United is his only option. That is why I am mad.

He won them the title. Pretty big justification.
And the rags paid through the nose for that 1 season from RVP and continue with that flawed strategy buying at random named players with no obvious sign of them being what the rags need. Bloody hell Pogba according to the media and united fans was supposed to be the last piece of the jigsaw, strange jigsaw just when you try to place the last piece in you see its from a different jigsaw and you now have 3 pieces missing. I prefer our controlled, rational and planned approach.

You are missing my point. If we had offered Arsenal 30m on Jan 1st, personally feel Alexis, who allegedly agreed personal terms with us, would be lining up against Liverpool this afternoon.

We obviously dont value him that high and that's the crux here. Its not what we should have done to get the deal done, it's what we are prepared to do and if that doesn't meet Arsenals or Sanchez needs then we won't do it.

The big factor which keeps being overlooked, is that Pep wants a Sanchez who is desperate to play for him.

Not someone who can be swayed by an offer of more money. That, is the same guy who sulks when he's on the bench, & causes shit, if things don't work out.

We don't want a 29 year old prima donna, we want a bloke who is desperate to play for our team.

THIS!

It is a desperate signing from Utd's point of view. They are not signing him as part of a plan, it's a hugely expensive punt, on a 29 year old, to rescue them.

I don't see why anyone should try to let them off lightly for it.

No way do they actually want to pay this money out, they are in a position where they felt they had to go for him.

The plan is you buy players who
Improve your team and competition in the squad.

RVP was short term but played a massive part in helping them win the league and Ibra helped them across the line back into the Champs lge and silverware to boot.

Sanchez whether at City or United still has the same period of longevity and yet both Pep and Mourinho plus PSG plus Bayern Munich wanted him. The plan is simple to improve the team and all four of those managers cannot be wrong.

Precisely.

We as a club have to decide what we want. Do we want a dynasty like Barcelona of the past decade along with other examples? You have to basically strangle the competition for several years to establish a dynasty. We were on the edge of it I feel with our first title but decided we only wanted players that wanted us more than money thus Hazard and RVP et al. Then we spent years spinning our wheels with some good years and some bad. Don’t get me wrong. It’s been a fun ride, but we’re nothing resembling a dynasty.

Now again we I feel are on the verge of something special. This isn’t the time to act as if we’ve won five league titles in a row with a few CL trophies to boot.

Is there anyone that doesn't think Sanchez wanted to leave Arsenal for City? For whatever reason we said we would pay only £20m and wouldn't enter a bidding war.

If we had not said that we could have paid close to Arsenal's asking price and he may well have been on the bench for us today.

Asking £35m was not unreasonable in today's market and they probably would have settled for £30m?

No, if they accepted our bid, they would then accept Utd matching it & allow them to talk to Sanchez as well, & offer him twice the wages. Then it's upto him.

It's still upto him now. He can tell Utd to fuck off & sign for City. If he doesn't, it's because he wants more money.

It was on his Twitter a few days ago if you have a look through. Someone asked him for an update on Sanchez and he said he'd heard there might be another name in the frame but he was still checking it out. Nothing concrete but it did sound as though there were whispers of something else potentially on the cards.
