Alexis Sanchez

We have to wait for Tolmie to post a hidden video message with some song like 'It's over' on it.

Then five pages as everyone dissects the lyrics and decide he means for United.

Before he then posts - I meant you to just read the title not the lyrics and take it that was us.

Just a joke - not a jibe - btw.

I love his posts and think he genuinely tells what he hears or suspects.

Sorry to be the contrarian but all this laughing and talk of impending implosion at the rags because of this transfer is delusional.

It's the same shit that their fans did to us over the past decade, that the spending is unsustainable, wait until it goes tits up, etc, etc.

If Sanchez helps close the gap on us and helps them win trophies then no one will give a shit about the money.

They've unfortunately gazumped us, made us walk away and got an excellent player.

You win some, you lose some.

Yep. They can afford it no doubt. And as you say, if he helps them lift trophies who gives a fuck.
Can understand why we havent paid that sort of brass but they have , im afraid, gazumped us.

The twats

Sorry but they haven't made us do anything.

If reports are correct we had an agreement with the player and his agent and its them that have moved the goalposts.

What exactly have utd made us do in this?

They came him for him, offered him more money, we said no to matching it. Thought that was established?

This is no criticism of City.

£500k p/w? It keeps going up by the hour. No wonder he rejected our £290k p/w.

It is not really going up by the hour. You are not comparing like with like. The lower figures quoted are the net which he wants in his pocket with the tax paid. The higher figures are the gross amount that it costs United.

Wishful thinking that we're still in for Sanchez?

Since then the belief in the press seems to have changed to United being close to announcing and specific figures of an even bigger sum involved.

So possibly they sealed it with a bigger deal after Sanchez did start to waver.

Until Tolmie returns and tells us what he meant earlier we are just guessing.

As usual.

There is zero chance we are going anywhere near that kind of money. Nor should we ever consider doing so for him.

So the only way Sanchez to City happens is if he and his agent gives up millions to do so.

In a comic, maybe. But in real life?

3.5 year contract x circa 20m
Nominal 35m transfer
Bung to Agent circa 10m
Signing fee for Sanchez £15m

Uniteds annual revenues are circa 600m so it’s nearer 10 per cent than 5.
Actually it's closer to 25m in wages, with around 15m of amortization on top per year of his contract.

They don't have to play pretty. Just take a look at Madrid under Jose, even with the wealth of star players in their ranks they were overly defensive but oftentimes they got the job done. I'm very hopeful that despite all this, in the following years, we'd beat them and remain on top.
