No scientific evidence to suggest excess dietary protein causes soft tissue injuries.

Excessive protein can cause inflammation in the joints
Thanks for sharing. Although I can't dispute the suggestion he went to a specialist in animal (!) health and performance, it's pseudoscientific nonsense.

When players are injured they are required to increase their protein intake, and there's no evidence that shows too much is bad for you (except you end up with expensive urine!).

Too much can cause inflammation in certain people but I agree with you unlikely the cause of vinnys injuries.

Well, I wonder if Fernandinho could play CB, Pep has often spoke of his admiration at how he can play so many positions.
Kolarov at centre back, Fernandinho at centre back, Mendy at centre back. Why not just buy a fucking centre back?

if we had to choose, i'd sooner get Sanchez than an extra defender too. Aside from the question of who we'd bring in at the back, particularly with Bonucci and probably VVD off the table which would have been the best two options, Pep was right last year when he constantly commented on the attack being more of an issue than the defence.Last season we dropped so many points from failing to break teams down. We limited teams to maybe 1/2 shots on target for a lot of the games whilst having 15/20 shots ourselves, sometimes more, and not winning. In that scenario, It's a lot harder to improve the defence when we're limiting teams to a handful of shots than it is to improve the attack when we're failing to score enough from 15/20+ shots a game.

Peps way of defending is about limiting the opportunities teams get to attack in our box rather than being defensively solid as a unit and hard to get past like a Boring Mourinho team. We'll always concede what we see as sloppy or avoidable goals under Pep even if we had the 4 best defenders in the world, just as Barca and Bayern did. We're limiting most teams to a handful of chances per game so we're doing alright in that department.

In attack though, Pep expects us to score a lot more, we make plenty of chances but we're not converting enough of them and we can still improve the amount of chances we create. We get a player like Sanchez in on top of what we had and we have the firepower to out-score anybody if it came to that. Don't think it would come to that regularly though as our defence simply isn't anywhere near as bad as is made out, and we're already improving the two fullbacks.
