Right, so you just choose to ignore all the journalists and ITK's who say he's not a priority, and the fact that Chelsea and Liverpool are the only ones who seem to have really taken things past "interest"?

To be fair to Nev..he probably was the CB until Southampton asked silly money for him..our absolute priority is fullbacks and they will be expensive..even we have a budget

Right so Cb is such a priority that if the first choice target is off the table, we just don't buy one? That just doesn't sound like a priority to me.

I thought it was obvious he meant we can't rely on Kompany to start, that's all, but even if he did mean we need another centreback, our activity in the transfer market shows it's not a priority. Even if VVD was the one he wanted, it can't be much of a priority if he decides he doesn't fancy one after losing out on him, can it?

It definitely doesn't seem as big a priority as Sanchez.

I'm sure we want Sanchez.

My whole point is, there is only one position which Pep has actually said 'we need backup' & that's cb. I will find it very strange therefore, if we don't sign one.

If Pep said the same re Aguero: 'Manuel missed him, when he's there, blah blah, then said 'we have to cover our backs' etc, everyone would 100% assume he was signing a striker, no question.

Pep knows, we have a problem at cb, without Kompany.

It's therefore very odd, if he doesn't do something about it.

Personally, I would prioritise that over any other position, seeing as we have fullbacks coming in.

Even above Sanchez, but we are clearly after him, irrespective.

Maybe not a priority..I think next summer it certainly will be though
The transfer news and gossip suggests it's not a priority as the only real link has been to VVD, yet if you look at our options in central defence it should be the priority once the full backs are signed. If Kompany got injured we'd be in trouble.

The lack of links makes me wonder if we are going to go into the new season with Kompany, Ota and Stones. That would make the Sanchez bid even more difficult to understand.

I can only assume, Sanchez is in addittion to a cb but perhaps Van Dijk & whoever is plan B, is very difficult to land.

We already have Mangala for huge money, so just signing 'a' centre back, is not on the agenda. It has to be genuine cover/partner for Vinny.

It might be that we have a veteran lined up as plan 'c' for later in the window.
