You act like its black and white. It isn't. We can integrate talented youngsters whilst having a squad that can challenge. We took a risk on Sane and he has done ok. Jason is done at the club I think but imo his career has been mismanaged by us. I hope that Roberts doesnt go the same way.

It is black and white whether you like it or not. The priority is the first team and winning things. Not developing Patrick Roberts' career in the first team. His career will be best served being developed elsewhere for another year at least IMO. I don't really care whether him (or Denayer) have been well managed or mis-managed by City. I care about the club being successful.

What isn't being discussed here is does Roberts want to return? Given news of the bid from Celtic, id hardly think they would go to that trouble unless they had been given assurances from the player he wanted the move.

Im happy for us to reject the bid and for Pep to take a look at the lad but any thoughts of him coming in and playing a regular role in the side next season are pie in the sky as far as i'm concerned and i will hazard a guess, Roberts knows it as well.

This.
There's a reason why there's mutual love for each other, and everything hoops in the media every day. They should get a room. Love bites an evryfink.

A German International tearing the Bundasliga up against a lad Playing in Scotland for a side so dominant its ridiculous and against sides so poor is not a comparison.

Billy is right in that a loan to a PL club is probably best right now so that we can judge him far better.
I never compared them. Please don't put words in my mouth. I believe that Roberts should have a place whether Sanchez comes or not. If Sanchez doesn't get signed I said we should look at a different option that can give us strength and height in the box. Jesus/Raheem/Roberts/Sane/Kun/Sanchez would work fine for me. Give us lots of rotation options and game changing ability from the bench. If Roberts goes on loan, I hope to hell its better thought through than Denayer to Sunderland.

Bild are very reliable for Bayern news usually - or at least they usually have the bayern line.

My issue with this article is that it says Arsenal have offered Sanchez €20m salary - £330k/week - and that's just obviously bollocks.

Right, that bit is typical BILD nonsense. That would make him joint 5th most paid footballer in the world, along with Messi. Arsenal are coming nowhere near that.

I agree with the premise of the argument though, at least in theory. Bayern are unlikely to offer the kind of wages Sanchez is looking for as they don't have that kind of wage structure in place in their current squad. City, as we know, are a different story.

How much are Celtic offering? A can of Irn Bru, a deep fried Mars bar and a dodgy Scottish fiver?

So do I. I would also like to see the academy successful and us nurture young talent and I don't think those two objectives are incompatible.

They're not incompatible but the reality is that guys like Roberts need to play a lot to develop. And at a good level. Just being on our bench and playing a half a dozen league cup games or getting 15 minutes at the end of a game that's won isn't going to do that IMO.

ok. we can agree to disagree :-). Hope we get Sanchez, the noises this morning are hopeful. Have a good one.

As much as I want Roberts to be given a fair chance he has some way to go and as BS as mentioned, needs more game time to develop. I am not too keen on the Sanchez signing but the team does need competition for places.

There will be friendships between Arsenal and City players - Spanish internationals, and Clichy played there so wouldnt be suprised if Sanchez has confided and some of the players have picked it up and discussed it.

Don't forget Arteta!

Ha. Innit. I realise that I sound like i've got a serious downer on Roberts, but I don't. I just genuinely believe it's a year too early and one more loan to a higher level will be what is required.

Totally agree about Sanchez. I think he'd be a game changing addition to our squad so here's hoping!

I posted a comparison stats in the Griezmann thread. I would like us to reel Sanchez in. Aguero-Sanchez-Jesus-Roberts. We have more than enough games to rotate them around and sub each other.

The issue is you also have Sane and Sterling in that mix. It's a tough juggle.

It is. But it's a problem I would welcome more than not having the alternatives in hand when we get suspensions, injuries, dry spells.

Not sure Pep will always play Sane wide - he may get opportunities down the middle where his pace will be just as telling.

True enough, and its possible that City is Sanchez's prefered destination. But it doesn't become a done deal until Arsenal agree it. Eventually they may take the view that they have no real choice. But I would still expect them to drag that process out as much as possible, firstly to see if a foreign club eg PSG can come up with a deal that is acceptable to the player, secondly because they wouldn't want their fans to think that they'd meekly agreed a deal with City.

I think Arsenal may make Sanchez force the move - which is why Pep is telling him to be resolute. Wenger will want Sanchez to take the shit if he elects to join us.
