The person you were referring to didn't say Sanchez deal was off, he said Sanchez wasn't even a priority, that he was a back up plan for some unspecified megasigning, and that everyone who's anyone regarding City transfers had been wrong about Sanchez being a priority this summer. That's what people didn't believe and whether we sign Sanchez or not, it's still going to not be true. Far too many people close to the club have said he's key target for us.

Yeah, but he's nearly 30, losing/will soon lose some pace, never goes past his man any more, and there are better, younger, ones out there, all cheaper obviously....

If Sanchez wants to come to City and isn't allowed by Arsenal then it's the latter who will suffer the most, £50M down the pan will hurt them; still hope we get him though

He also holds all the cards, as he can buy himself out of his contract. That's effectively what a transfer is anyway, the buying club are paying off the contract. Technically the money should come from the player but I doubt whether it's accounted for in that way.

I'd take Sanchez over Dembele, which I guess is how we have to look at it given the options (not that a signing of that nature is an urgent requirement)
