I wasn't suggesting that I was disappointed, I was just pointing out what was being inferred on here. To be honest I find the inflationary nature of the transfers obscene and wouldn't mind returning to saner times.

Well surely you can see that a £300m spend is plausible if we're already approaching £200m before the end of July? I think we all find inflationary fees obscene, but your initial post suggested that not hitting £300m was something of an anti-climax. Apologies if misconstrued, but I can't help but feel that sometimes you're contrary for the sake of it.

I cant understand some of the flapping in here. Even if this is true and you do miss out on Sanchez, it's not make or break. You've got the right back position sorted, the left back will be next, and you've added areally good creative player in Silva. You have a guaranteed goal scorer in Aguero, and a potential superstar in Jesus for a full season. Meanwhile we could be about to lose our best player. I know who's position I'd rather be in.

football fans for you.

Amen to that.

Well, we're on the verge of a £200m transfer window, with over 5 weeks of the window remaining. Because "someone pointed out that we are not trying to compete with United, Arsenal, Chelsea at al. Our rivals are Bayern, Madrid and Barca" that means we're failing?! Christ, United are probably the wealthiest club on Earth in terms of what they can and will spend. I despair at some of our fans at times.
Not sure the word despair is adequate enough. The people who cannot see what is being built don't really deserve to be part of it, in my humble opinion!

Amen to that.

Correct.

I said last night that if we pull off Mendy and Danillo, Sanchez was just a bonus.

We created more chances than anyone last season. With the most prolific striker in the division. I don't know what or when it wrong, but that is a recipe most will kill for.

If we can keep Aguero on the pitch for a full season, with what's around him, we will be in a good place.

To be fair to the flappers we've had reports from Maks, Marti, Sam Lee, and Tolmie stating at how confident (IE: arrogant) we were about landing sanchez. I thought it was ridiculous but held my tongue. So some of the panic is deserved?

Still think this is a smokescreen from PSG to get Barca to move the Neymar deal along if it is actually happening.

It's not panic.

Arsenal wont sell to us.

To be honest, I'm tired of the bull shit now. Give Nasri a shake and get the fucker on board for a season. If there is a role for Sanchez we can find one for Samir

I'm with you. I thought it was a long shot but was pretty intrigued and optimistic via what we've heard all along but definitely never penciled him in and I even posted a few times that I wasn't so sure that this would go through.

Cest la vie though blues. Deal isn't dead to be fair and I think we'll be ok regardless.

You mean a plan b
Everybody knows transfer deals can go tit's up that's why you have a plan b

I don't know, didn't sound like Danilo was a plan B, just that it went tits up, and Pep made a decision. Sam Lee said the club had barely looked at him compared to a normal transfer target and that it's completely a pep purchase.

Does that count as a plan B? I always assumed our plan B's would be just as thoroughly researched as the main targets.

If we don't end up with Sanchez, then we will need a proven striker capable of around 20 goals per season. The question is who.

If we can solve that little conundrum and fill the centre half position I think we are set.

Isn't Sané our only left winger right now as Nolito has left?
I expect Pep to get a left wing man.

Sanchez would be a perfect fit on that position and on top he is a goal scorer with a superb winning mentality.
And it's an opportunity given his contract expiry next year.

But Sanchez is not a man for the bench. He certainly wouldn't want to "share" workload with Leroy who needs game time as well.

IF Sanchez joins PSG - which doesn't make much sense for him expect Paris being beautiful - another 222m word class left winger certainly won't join.
Or Draxler would have to leave immediately...

What about Neymar to PSG and Sanchez to Barca?

Anyway, I expect a left winger for City, as well as a left back (plus Mendy) and a CB - if Mangala won't stay. Imo.

I think Danilo and Mendy take it up to about £230-240m? Which itself is the biggest transfer window in history, but From Pep's comments today a CB is on the cards and presumably a plan B to Sanchez if that doesn't happen so £300m could be conservative.

Apparently Neymar wants to play more centrally, and Sanchez and Neymar could both play on the right too so I don't think it's a problem for them, they could have a 4231 with Neymar, Draxler, Sanchez behind Cavani.

For us, if Sané were injured, Sterling could play LW now that we'd have someone like Mendy providing width. Obviously last season without fullbacks capable of overlapping we had to play the wingers traditionally so they kept the width, but I wouldn't be surprised if they got inverted now so they were in the box to score more often.

Jesus also a LW option and Bernardo said he could play left in his interview, so we've got options.

I agree though, a winger who can cover striker and a CB who can cover LB are the ideal targets IMO.

That's it, you don't know because you answered it
Are plan b will be thoroughly researched
Try thinking before you post then you won't look like an idiot

Sanchez was ideal because he can play all across the front line. Can't really think of many alternatives tbh. Dybala would be a dream but why leave Juventus and if he did Barca would be all over him.
