Yep,Walker,for most of the game,after a fucking ridiculous dismissal.

Thought we were average before the sending off as well. Fair play we took it to them second half, but we looked fragile at the back for me and we will have to agree to disagree on the form of Jesus at present. Sanchez and a top drawer defender improve us immensely.

Sanchez and Van Dyke would restore my faith after Monday. Something was missing!

It was, players dithering when in good goalscoring positions or snatching at chances. We should have been three up before Walker was sent off and the game would have been over. Pep said before the game everyone knows the way he plays there will be space in behind but he won't change. This means the way we defend, or rather don't, we need to probably score at least twice to win a game. Keep on missing chances isn't a luxury we can afford.

Conceded fewest chances and shots of all 20 teams last season.

We did play a chunk of the match without any recognised full backs though, if we had played with Walker and Mendy it would have been different. Worth bearing in mind as well it was our 2nd competitive match after only 4 pre season games. It was Evertons 5th competitive match we are probably not fully match sharp yet. Hopefully slow start and extra time on training ground will prove beneficial as we get into September. IMO need Sanchez, and backup cb / left back. Danilo looked fine as Walker cover.

PEP imho wants more from Aguero. apart from his usual game he wants him to do the headless chicken bit, a la Tevez,Its not in Aguero"s forte he doesnt look happy and for the first time on Monday i thought he was lacking confidence It has to be said he still grafted his balls off. Also effected is GJ who like Sane is in a position that does not help the team. .Whether right or wrong PEP has a complete and total stubborn view and i seriously would not put it past him to god forbid make him part of the Sanchez deal PEP knows another trophyless season will see his position become fragile and will unpopular calls that wont sit well with everybody

Really?? Even with almost every shot on target going in with Bravo in goal? On Monday I think Everton had two shots on target and scored once, we had something like nine and scored once. Statistically it looks good but last season watching it it didn't.

Hopefully Ederson won't prove to be the hologram that Bravo was.

And yeah really, Sky had the stats up for Kat season before the game. We had the most shots and conceded the fewest.

Thought Aguero did everything Pep wanted on Monday and while they were on the pitch was better than Jesus. If he'd scored his chance and somebody had attacked that pull back he would be fine he didn't miss it because of the jobs Pep gets him too do. He never looks happy during games and don't think he lacks confidence.
He won't be part of any Sanchez deal because they don't play in the same position. They would more often than not play together..

Need to be better in both boxes. If you didn't know better, you'd swear this Guardiola chap might know what he's talking about after all............

Hopefully, he looked good pre season but I thought he could have done better with the goal on Monday.

Unbelievable but stats don't lie I guess.

+1
Shit happens - Aguero played well - his chip to Silva was awesome. But... he did have an open shot on goal following a pass from KDB and then took an extra touch which didn't work out. But no one's perfect.

Jesus is going through a bit of a cold spell at present too - not burring chances he normally would.
========
Sanchez will add to the mix - not detract. Pep will play the most in form of his squad at the positions they play best. It's possible that Aguero, Jesus and Sanchez will all start.
========
And I'm still optimistic that we'll sign Sanchez - crazy for Arsenal to hold on to Sanchez simply to lose him to us on a free next year.

Yeh, but it's the nature of those chances that's the issue, ie wide open on the counter 2 vs 2

And the '2' are often 2 yards too slow, to do anything but watch.

We aren't conceding half chances due to quality football, we are conceding nailed on chances due to the kind of football we could play in the 3rd division.t

If a team wants to score v City, it should be fucking difficult & require skill or subterfuge.

It isn't, any old obvious bog standard shit football move can do it.

Any team is calable of it at any time, no matter how well we are playing.

"Oh yes but we miss chances" Yes we do. But what if their keeper plays well & we only score 1 ?

We lose ?

Hopefully, he looked good pre season but I thought he could have done better with the goal on Monday.
My initial thought seeing it once live, but seeing it again I'm not so sure. I also follow an ex-keeper.on Twitter who's good at talking about keeper performances (David Preece) and he said from that range and straight at him, it's difficult to close your legs in time.

More questions on defence in general and Stones in particular who gave Shrek the space. Plus Sane for the assist...

I know, and I agree completely. This league is stuffed to the gills with quick powerful opposition forwards, and any old hoof downfield has a better than average chance of finding them. We were up against a 19 year old kid on Monday with half a dozen starts to his name, yet he was able to beat our back 3 to every clearance and find himself near the corner of our 18 yard box time and time again. It's part of the reason we won't win anything under Pep unless he has a serious rethink.....which he won't. We are going to face 38 parked bus, counterattacking opponents this season, so something's got to give
