Alexis Sanchez

I don’t see how the club can think Evans is going to be cheaper than Martinez.

Martinez has a buyout of around £30m.

Now Van Dijk has gone for £75m, add that along with with West Brom potentially getting relegated, they are going to want at least £40m.
If Sociedad won't negotiate we'll have to pay 45% income tax and 55% buyout to Martinez so he can buy himself out.

'Lost a yard of pace' means that in a unit of time, the player travels a yard less. Simple, as is my point the ageing effect which I think is apparent in Sanchez's game. Inability to beat a man one on one.

He's still a good player, but a club in our position can buy the very best. Sanchez is not. He's 29 and you can see the effects in his game which are not explained by motivation alone.

Oh Marvin.

In the summer you said Messi was finished at the top level and wasn't good enough for us.

This was after he had finished as the top scorer in Europe.

You have proven time and time again that your judgement of players is absolutely horrific, to the point where some people think you are just on the wind up.

The funniest thing about it all is that you will be proven wrong once again and I'll be happy to quote you once he starts banging in the goals.

Stop embarrassing yourself.

I can't answer your question. If such evidence exists I don't know where to find it. It's just my impression. My impression is that Sane and Sterling are much quicker than Sanchez and frequently beat a man one on one, but I can't quantify it.
OK, you can do yourself & everyone else a favour by making clear your posts are purely your personal, unfounded, unsubstantiated, baseless opinion.

In terms of the pace issue, do you believe the faster a player is, the better a footballer they are? If yes, can you post another Bleacher Report metric to back this up? Do you then reckon that even a retired Usain Bolt will be pursued by every major football club?

Do you also believe pace is the only asset a player needs, or are there other facets you believe may help, eg: Skill, speed of thought, passing ability, work rate? You know the kind of assets David Silva, KDB & Messi have?

I'm not getting quite what people don't understand about this window.

We can't sign Sanchez and another foreign player unless someone is moved on.

Evans is an obvious stop gap signing.

Agreed.

I actually think Evans is the long term replacement for Mangala.

Whilst in the summer we will look big for a Kompany replacement, i.e. like an Alderweireld.

Why is Evans different? we have four association trained players already.

It’s depressing enough having a separate JFE thread, please don’t bring him into this one as well

It’s the fixture we need him for the most. For the other games in the next 1/2 month we can rely on Kun/Sterling to play up top.

I think it’s the CL we need him for.

We could get beat 20-0 next week yet we will still be 12 points clear.

Has to happen before the game at Anfield, otherwise we'd rather just wait for the summer.

Not at all mate.
We don't need Sanchez to win at Anfield.

Even from Feb Sanchez could play 24 possible matches for City. Especially to share workload and to have more options in CL matches.
Plus longer integration time regarding next season.
1 Feb would be good enough.

That's true. But we are allowed to do 3 changes on our CL A list.
Evens could go on the A list taking a foreign spot, say instead of Komps, Yaya, Muric or even Mendy.

We are allowed to add only 1 player who has played EL this season for a different club (Martinez OR Sanchez).

Of course we can. He just wouldn't be allowed to play CL as Sanchez obviously would take that spot.
He would have to share the workload in domestic matches and that would be important too.
