Alexis Sanchez

So please explain to me why is he not a City player today if it was all agreed and Arsenal have had 4 months to find a replacement?

Because Arsenal are struggling to find a replacement and know that they are going to lose out in any potential deal.

It would be like us losing Aguero for peanuts and spending £60+ million on an inferior player at a crucial stage of the season.

Nobody really knows that for sure if it were then why haven't Arsenal got a replacement lined up in all this time and why is Sanchez not now a City player?

Something isn't adding up.

IMO . . . Because Arsenal management has a bad poker hand and are trying to bluff Txixi off a strong hand.

They want City's money and they know Sanchez wants City but are trying to make it appear that they can either get more for him elsewhere or they'd be happy to keep him for another six months to help their "chances." They believe if City don't come in for him at their (Arsenal's) valuation, City might believe that Sanchez would take another deal elsewhere or stay with them, and then open himself up to the highest bidder in June. And because people are people (i.e., fickle and greedy), there's a chance (albeit a low one) of that.

If City know Sanchez wants them and only them -- as I believe -- then its just a function of City calculating what it's worth to City to get him for this year's CL chase or waiting for him on a free. Arsenal are trying to raise seeds of doubt, I'm sure with the Alves situation as a scare tactic.

If Arsenal start lining up a replacement, which they may have done privately anyway (we don't know), it's a tell. City then know they can more confidently lower their offer because Arsenal have someone waiting in the wings.

Not really.

Arsenal didn't want to lose him in the summer as they thought they had a genuine chance of competing for the PL, especially with no CL football as a distraction. An attack of Sanchez, Lacazette and Ozil is amongst the best in the PL and at a minimum it's more than good enough to reach the top 4. There was also the outside chance that he would sign a new deal if Arsenal could muster a title challenge.

However, at the end of the window Arsenal panicked and tried to replace him and take the money but it was too late. Their plans of challenging for the title have gone up shit creek and now they are in a battle to make the top 4.

The realisation has hit home for them and £25 million is nothing in today's market. Keeping Sanchez gives them a better chance of making the top 4 and that would offset any money they could potentially receive in a fee in they sold him now. However, Arsenal will do what they always do, they will get a replacement and then take the money. That is what the hold up is because if they don't get a replacement, then Sanchez will stay there.

Then again, the Arsenal board have heavily backed Wenger this season. They might not have spent what us and United have, but by not cashing in on Ozil and Sanchez, they have effectively gambled £100 million. If Wenger doesn't get a top 4 finish and they both leave on a free then his position will surely be untenable. Yet selling Sanchez and recouping some money will alleviate that risk and is why the deal will get done in January.
Get out of here with the sensible stuff.

Was typing my response while you were yours; I like your interpretation.

I'm still not convinced something doesn't seem right.

I really hope I'm wrong and he signs as the guy is a class act. We will see in the coming days.

Not a chance of a link.

Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez despite intense competition from Manchester City.

Sanchez, 29, has seemed destined to join City in either the January transfer window or the summer as he runs down his Arsenal contract, which expires at the end of June.
However, M.E.N. Sport understands United have received new hope of signing Sanchez, having contacted the Chile international's representatives earlier this season.

It is understood United initially touched base with Sanchez's camp after a deadline day move to City fell through. United are believed to have been quoted an eye-watering £25million fee for Sanchez, which is the figure City are said to be trying to negotiate with Arsenal to sign him this month.

City are believed to be reluctant to meet Sanchez's financial demands and a City insider said Sanchez 'must decide whether to put trophies before money'. A second City source insists the club is 'not desperate' to sign Sanchez this month and supporters should expect a 'big signing' in the summer if a move for the Arsenal talisman fails to materialise.

If Sanchez does sign for the Rags , he may as well piss off to China and double his money , because his only valid reason to make the decision to sign for the swampdwellers will be to stuff his bank account full of £££££££££££££££ , he wont win f*ck all with PEG.

The only thing that worries me is that all this hinges on Arsenal getting Malcom. They might wait until the last day again. It's Arsenal for feck's sake!

Surely City have known for a long time what Sanchez's financial demands are. More like his agents demands trying to drive City up by playing us off against United and us then sensibly saying - up to you Alexis. Come where you said you want to be for the money you know we will pay or go where your agent says for a few dollars more.

Right move and noting - if we save the £50 million plus now it will go on someone big and younger than Sanchez in the Summer so he won't get a second chance then.

Entirely the right stance. And his choice now.

Rag Cafe, Sanchez thread.

They are so desperate for him to sign. Or they'd rather have Ozil.

Rag Cafe.

FFP is becoming more of a problem for them to cheat their way around it. I think they are thinking about how many more fake shell companies they will need to open up in order to stick a sponsor logo on their empty seats. At £250 a seat that should fetch them well over £10M

Is Wenger really that much of an idiot that he’d promote an unhealthy dressing room for the rest of the season? Surely they are better off without him whether or not they sign a replacement?

Just can’t believe they will keep him beyond January , Sanchez is looking more and more frustrated by the day, how the fuck could you keep a player like that at the club, they are a laughing stock ,5points from top four and that’s with him in the squad.

He needs to agitate a move and tell Wenger he won’t be pulling on a shirt again, it’s the only way with Wenger, what an absolute shambles that club is.
