Just basing it on transfers like Stones, Mendy, Walker etc where the figure required to get the transfer over the line was quoted weeks prior to them signing and lo and behold we ended up paying it according to figures released. I am no more privy to the negotiations than you are, so we can only go off the info we are given.

Maybe not, on one transfer, but the price over several transfers, if we pay over the odds, adds up to us missing out on the next transfer, because we won't be able to get it under the budget due to ffp.
