Incredible really if we don’t get him, especially after what happened in the summer. Turns down bayern, turns down PsG, we bid 60 million..... come january we aren’t bidding more than 20, fuck sake.

He’s done a lot of good things including bringing the big man himself in Pep but Txiki really doesn’t instil faith when it comes to getting these deals that aren’t simple over the line. He rests on his laurels far too much.

Cut price deal for someone who will instantly improve us.

What the fuck are we doing really.

It’s also a message that United can draw the big players if we don’t get him.

It's not the fee to Arsenal that I have a problem with. If I were in charge of transfers then I'd have gladly paid the £35m and told Jonny Evans where to go. I just don't want a situation where his wage is significantly higher than our other top earners. It doesn't send a good message to the rest of the squad, who will start looking to draw down their contracts in search of mega-money. We were already offering him a generous compensation package. If he's asking for a massive increase then we should just move on.

Reckon this is just last minute posturing by the agent to try and get more out of us. Standard. Be very surprsed if it doesn't happen every time we try and sign someone.

Says Sanchez is encouraging united, to get a better offer from city

Cross will have decent Arsenal sources and the Sanchez encouraging the rags bit is all just part of what Arsenal needs to play out to their fans that he's just greedy. Once the headlines linking him to Chelsea appear, we'll know it's done

the only reason he'd go united instead of us is money.
How the tables have turned! TBH if it was all about the money, surely he would have gone to PSG in the summer which would have given him the added bonus of not having to return to the shambles that is Arsenal for even one match. It would be utterly staggering if he turned down the likes of PSG and Bayern to wait it out and play for Pep only to then do an about turn and sign for those boring bastards.

don't know who he is, what he knows or if he is ITK

I do think that of all the journalists John Cross and David Ornstein are the closest to Arsenal and they seem to be singing off the same hymn sheet. I still think that we are favourites to sign him, but there are so many similarities with the Alves saga...

I don't think anybody is saying that he's 100% going to rags. It just appears that United the Sanchez's agent have talked and they've offered a better deal. Keep in mind that the agent also gets a cut of the money, so he'll obviously want Sanchez to go to the highest bidder considering the circumstances surrounding the player. Besides it's not like United are never going to win the prem again. Maybe not this season, but you know what I mean. Think it's down to Sanchez. If he says okay, then it's a done deal within hours, considering that United are offering a better contract and bidding higher. Win-win for all sides (except City obviously). Let's say where we stand on this. One thing is clear, if Txiki and co decide that we're not going to rival United's bid/offer, then we'll soon see briefs from City side stating that the price is too high (similar to what Mullock wrote).

There is no guarantee Utd will win the Prem again tbf. Not in our lifetime anyhow. Liverpool haven't. But that's another thread.

I don't see how anyone would know that Utd are offering a 'better' deal, unless his agent has leaked it. If his agent tells City that Sanchez is 'torn' between City & Utd, I recon it's pretty certain Pep would say 'go to Utd'. Do we want a player who would be willing to pick 'that' over what City are doing, due to being offered more money ? There is no choice to make, at all, for football reasons. If Sanchez was someone who couldn't see that, he's the wrong player for us. We need someone who 'gets it'.

On the other hand, if City were in Utd's position, & vice versa (we were the ones with a miserable **** manager playing shite football & Utd were playing like a dream, under Pep), I would still expect the player's agent to speak to us & discuss our offer. Sanchez is after all, signed only to Arsenal. He has no deal signed with anyone else.

If Arsenal are willing to sell, which now seems to be the case, it would be disrespectful, not to speak to any top club who asks. Then it's upto the player.

Arsenal may have agreed a price with Utd, for all we know, maybe agreed with City too.

Yeah, saw you post that last week mate (and well before most other journalists mentioned it). Just hope City's dithering hasn't let United back in. I might bet on him going to United, that should curse it!

I don't think it's been a question of dithering, we have been negotiating with Arsenal for a few days, from a supposed position of strength.

Whether that is because Sanchez is still steadfast in his commitment to Pep and City, nobody seems to know.

Pretty black and white to me at this stage.

If Arsenal bluff it out, and Sanchez still only wants City, then he becomes a very rich man indeed this summer.

In that respect, whatever United may be offering to take him in January cannot come anywhere close in terms of those numbers.

However, if Sanchez has suddenly contemplated United, it can only be to be a guaranteed regular starter and an amazing selling job done by Mourinho.

Which is a slight contradiction in itself, as that would be for footballing reasons only, and City again should be winning that hands down.

Mourinho and United have all day to spin their responses (5.30pm tonight) - they won't leave their arse hanging out of the window if they know they have no chance - even if being non-committal would usually be an advantage in terms of ramping the price up here on City/why would they want to do Arsenal favour on that score?

I know you hate answering these... but are you still confident?

Not that I like it, but f*** i'm really worried. Should I be worried?
I don't think we'll get him this month but I don't think worried is the right word. More bored. By Febuary 3rd I'll be over it, until then I'll be constantly obsessing over this thread until we accept it's not happening.

So the problem is some poor soul has to willingly move to Arsenal before they let Sanchez leave? Could be an issue for us.
