Alexis Sanchez

It's all down to Arsenal's ability to secure a replacement.

It depends on how 'motivated' Arsenal are to get a deal done with Malcom, for example.

Fact is they can just keep Sanchez, 20 million is peanuts I think.

The better business decision would have been to get a player in who actually wants to play for Arsenal both in terms of financials and impact on the team.

If Jesus had been declared injured for the season think we'd be bidding more but he'll be back in 2-3 weeks so it maybe that niether side are that enthusiastic about the deal.

I am really unconcerned with this. Would be thrilled if we got him but if we don't we're 15 points up on the league and will get someone else in the summer, no big deal. Do you guys think Bayern would give a shit if a player decided to go to Dortmund instead? If he goes to United we shouldn't either, it's not like he's a trancendant 22 year old who will be around for a decade.
Correct in everything you say. Good post.

I worry quite a bit about breaking salary structures. We have been doing new deals recently with some of our best for good reason but breaking it now could be disastrous. Quite frankly, anything that could cause disharmony in KDB camp wouldn't be worth it. If we could afford to put everyone on higher wages I'd be more willing but I can't imagine that wouldn't in effect cost us another deal or two down the line. It's definitely helpful that Alexis is on the older side and this it's easier to pass if we must. I suspect we'd be more likely to overreach on a player like Mbappe had he not gone to Paris and dealt with the knock on effects as they came

i dont think arsenal will get a replacement in and i think sanchez will wait until the summer to come to us, so ive just stuck a tenner on sanchez to stay at arsenal this window at 11/2. You never know :-)

This is sounding more and more like he'll stay at Ars til the summer. If its all about how much money he wants then he's gunna wait 4 months isn't he. He'll be waving huge amounts by pushing for a transfer now. If he does sign for us this window, it'll be a massive show of intent that he is desperate to play for us. We're not desperate to sign him especially with Jesus' good news, so there's no way I want my club to cave into those charlatans at Arsenal. After the last Windows amateurish behaviour they can do one

The only game this month that I really wanted Alexis in for was Liverpool and even if he signed today he wouldn't play Sunday, so at this point I'm not bothered when we get him. As long we stick to our guns and get him for £20m-£25m it's still fantastic business for a player of his caliber.

Afternoon all, just a little reminder(for a minority....) of the CoC.

- Don't needlessly flap or overreact to things, particularly in the Matchday and Transfer forums. Football's obviously an emotive game, but there's no need for hysterical overreactions. It doesn't solve anything, and tends to cause arguments.

- Wumming/trolling won't be tolerated.

Cheers :-)

Thanks for that FI, I'm sure the flappers will take notice now.

can't wait until we get him for nowt in a few months. Annoyed with waiting to finish our transfer business based on Arsenal's incompetence.

Well it’s now happened twice in two windows.

City fans on here are mostly either completely bias in favour of the club or are made arses.

All I’ve done is question Txiki’s relaxed approach that has seen us lose two key signings for a cut price and the former have come out like a cult.
So because every fine detail is not on ssn on here your questioning Txiki. Even if Sanchez doesnt sign, how do you know that it is all down to Txiki, We could get Gazumped or Alexi changes his mind.

I'm beginning to believe that if we truly are waiting on Arsenal to find a replacement first then with their incompetence and the improvement in Jesus then this transfer is in danger of losing momentum to the point it may stall and never happen.

Of course once summer arrives will better and younger options be available?

Genuinely couldn't give a shit to be honest.

I was excited at the prospect in the summer but only because I thought we needed someone like him in the squad. The last six months have proven me wrong and, although I'd certainly be happy to add him to the squad, I wouldn't lose any sleep if he went elsewhere.

It will happen. Was never going to be done by the Liverpool game. Key bit is Sanchez wants us.

Patience instead of insane remarks about Txiki, the board and the club... who lets not forget have been fantastic the last couple of windows.

I would hate to piss on anyone's bonfire here but Jesus is back in 2-3 weeks http://www.skysports.com/watch/vide...gue/11204765/jesus-back-in-two-to-three-weeks. On the assumption that this transfer will probably drag out until the end of January or until Arsenal get a replacement which might not happen again. The question is do we really need him right now coming in and unsettling the side? Personally I would sign him in then summer for free which means that the player gets big fat signing on fee and we save a packet.

Before anyone jumps all over me I think the rag story is B.S and the player himself has made it quite clear who he wants to sign for.
yes because come February the cash cow league starts again and we are still in the FA cup and a very possible league cup final with refs trying to do us over, has it has more effect in one off cup ties.
