Has he made Arsenal winners?
I don't chalk that up as a 'fail' at all. It would be a fail imo if we paid that much for him, a huge, comical one.
But at least it is likely a fact: that he is signing elsewhere. If people want to argue that we should have paid more for him, that's an opinion based on fact.
So many people have just made up a narrative that we just sat around & if we'd tried a bit harder, would probably have signed him. Some even calling it 'arrogance'.
The chances of that being true, are so small as to be ridiculous, we would not just 'sit around' unless we didn't want him & any club can speak to him or his agent, once Arsenal are open to bids. The word being 'bids' they are going to invite them & he can't leave, unless they accept one.
If his agent then does a deal with another club for more money, we either outbid them or refuse. We rightly, refused.
But there was no chance Arsenal were just going to accept our bid, even if it was more than 20 mil, without allowing others to talk to him.
It has always been down to the player & his agent (I still recon this is driven by the agents, in both cases, not the players).
I'm sure the cabinets mates will be grateful for the extra cash.On the upside, there's at least £4M going into National Insurance
Hahahaha why have I not seen this before! Class!
A lot of people seem to think this I am far from sure. If he is instrumental in turning the Rags season around it will be looked upon as a major coup. Ifwe start to struggle in the next few months it will be viewed as a major reason why. The wages/tax involved will be meaningless and totally overshadowed by events on the pitch. The City board have made a major decision and only time will tell us if it was the right one.He has 2 years after this one left in him as a star player I’m predicting. Utd will be paying him stupid money for the next 5 years and generally increase the squad wage bill astronomically in years to come. Took us years to put right overpaying for average players and get them out. Hope they know what they’re doing hahaha
Same agent I believe for Sanchez, pogba, big nose, la cuckooPogshites agent will be knocking on the door asking Woodward how they expect Carlton to survive on the paltry £350k a week they are paying him , the Donut thief and a few others will be questioning the Merc's near £500k a week remuneration and demanding reviews of their deal ,with PEG extending his contract meaning a guaranteed eight figure pay off when he jumps ship , and its all to keep up with "Lickle Citeh" , its going to be an enjoyable few years watching that scummy club implode whilst trying to hang to our shirt tails.
You do not buy a player just to prevent your rivals from getting them. It is not a sustainable business plan. Sanchez made sense in the summer and for the right price would have this month. But his wage demands break our squad harmony as he would be on so much more than anyone else. His outlook has clearly changed. 29 year old desperate for a long contract and huge wages.
If he does play poorly they are stuck with an expensive bench warmer. If he plays well then fine, but he doesn't have a long career there and he keeps their younger players out the side to their detriment.
We have cash to go big for the next big thing that like Sane, Jesus, Sterling and Bernardo have plenty of talent now and will only get better under Pep's coaching. You look at Sterling this season and how he has improved thanks to Pep and the introduction of Walker. Mendy gives Sane the ability to also get into central areas for a more balanced attack next season.
We are top of the league and Sanchez might close the gap but it should not stop us this season. Then in the summer we can improve further to widen it. The rags have players that can improve but Mourinho is what he is, defence first and the league is not what it was when he was at Chelsea. They can compete more closely with us but we have so many players that will get better and better.
Need to get cover in defence, defensive midfield and another striker if Aguero is allowed to go. But Ederson, Walker, Otamendi, Stones, Mendy, De Bruyne, Sane, Sterling, Jesus, Bernardo will all continue to improve.
Not time to panic just because we have decided to withdraw interest in Sanchez.
If we paid what? The numbers the Rags seem to be committing to are plain daft. Another 20m in the summer probably would not have been daft if it had got the job done.
As Damo pointed out, this is a player we have coveted for years and we have failed at each point to acquire his registration. We have failed to sign a longtime target and I think it is likely therefore that some lessons are there for the club to learn. I don't think arrogance is an issue on City's part or lack of action.
No it’s not.Same agent I believe for Sanchez, pogba, big nose, la cuckoo
Sanchez is getting a contract, until he's 34? For someone who's game is based around work rate, doesn't make sense. Absolute desperation at the figures being mentioned.
Its going to make them stronger for the next two seasons. Which is a shame
